Since you dropping the throttle body anyway, I would go ahead and install a good shift kit.

Yup, I'll be ordering everything I can to replace what I'm able, while it's dropped.

That's odd to see that much stuff in the pan? What are you putting this tranny work into anyway?

Yea, well the pieces were rather large, but broke right in half with no effort. No metal anywhere, none. I quickly realized it had the consistency of cardboard (see gasket) but was confused because the trannie pan gasket is rubber, not cork. It's an older Benz.

Ok not a Tranny that you'd go out to purchase then...An M/C part is an M/C part. Not cheap! It's also hard to not want to pull the damn thing out and just rebuild it completely.

If I had a lift it would be out already. Although from what I'm reading (internet is amazing in this regard, saved me thousands on all types of shit) this is a common problem and can be addressed without taking it out. I've got a guy who is sending me PDF files with pictures he took of the same job, part numbers etc. Sounds like it's just nuts and bolts. The transmission used was one of their toughest, vacuum and hydraulics, not like the electric trannies they put in 'em now.

Yeah I hear that. I wish I had all the shit I used to have in regards to tools and stuff. Plus access to station lifts and all that handy stuff.

I do what I can, although my reputation is that of a mere tool.
