Thought this was interesting....

She lost me when complaining about whites getting 70% of acting gigs. Whites are 70% of the population. This is quite possibly the most proportionately divided up industry I've ever seen.

That's not really the difference between cult and religion. Cult usually involves some combination of brainwashing, forbidding of interaction with people outside the cult, forbidding of seeking outside information, etc. So I would say that most people who are religious are not in a cult, though most cults have religion as a basis.

I would agree that most people who are religious are not involved in cult-like religions. But some religions at their core are cult-like. The LDS and even some Catholic sects discourage people from socializing outside their religion. They are definitely opposed to marriage outside their religion, and those that leave are pusued or excommunicated.

LDS is often discussed as a cult, though it seems only minimally so to me. I've not known many Mormons, but those I have were pretty normal. Jehovah's Witnesses, on the other hand, has some strong cult like qualities.

Mainstream LDS no.

FDLS in S. Utah and N Arizona I'd put under the "Cult" column.

Wouldn't that mean then that the first rule of Christianity would be "You do not talk about Fight Club"??
