The problem with Liverpool is not their manager, it's that Gerrard has gotten old and can no longer carry them single-handedly as he did for years. A new manager isn't going to do anything for them - what can you do when you don't have any good players? It'll take a lot of investment to get them back fighting for Champions League spots again. Look how much money Tottenham and City have had spent on them to get up to that level. That's what Liverpool need to hope for, or they'll never get back to the top. Chelsea's in the same position, which I'm loving. Just goes to show that you can't splash the cash around for a few years and then expect that to sustain success in the long term. United and Arsenal have spent significantly less, but have invested in players for the future, and are reaping the rewards as a result. Chelsea didn't invest in young players for the future, and now they're stuck.

It's not Hodgson's fault but the players seem to have stopped playing for him, especially Torres who either needs to be sold or given some motivation (new manager and new players). Liverpool has some good players, but you need great players/matchwinners/inspiration too and like you say, Gerrard can't carry that burden any more. Saw they are trying to sign Adebayor, which is a little bizarre.

King Kenny takes over with MUFC tomorrow in the cup and Everton at Anfield next weekend. Gonna be an interesting week for LFC, that's for sure

Ta. Yeah, super-weak pen. Although I think we had a couple of decent shouts for ones in the second half that were turned down. Pretty clear red I thought. Not sure why there was any debate. Poor game though overall. Another bad United performance. Enjoyed the Leicester v City game much more.

DIEGO MARADONA will hold talks next month about bossing an English club - and Blackburn could be favourites to land him.
The Argentina legend had discussions with Rovers after they sacked Sam Allardyce in December.

He said: "In February I am going to England to listen to a firm offer. If they convince me, I may take it up. I am not desperate. I know that some day I will coach another team."

New owners Venky's put first-team coach Steve Kean in charge until the end of the season after firing Allardyce.

But Venky's, who bought Rovers in November, admitted their interest in Maradona, 50.

Chairwoman Anuradha Desai said: "We thought about Maradona as a coach after we took over. Talks were at the initial stage then, but there is no development on that front yet."

Reports in Argentina suggest Maradona is off to Fulham, where he was a guest of owner Mohamed Fayed last November.

But a source at Craven Cottage insisted: "It's not us."

Blackburn believe Maradona would strengthen their bid to sign big-name South American players after failing to land Brazil's Ronaldinho last week.

This would be awesome. If attempting to get Ronaldinho and Beckham is anything to go by, Blackburn's owners are definitely mental enough to give this a go, so let's hope it happens.
