I'm getting married next year, and have been thinking about the music for ages, but we can't seem to decide on what we want. We need three songs for the ceremony - bride's entrance, signing the register, the end - and, of course, the first dance. So I thought it'd be interesting to find out what music the married/divorced folk on the board went for when they got wed, or what music anyone else would want on the big day?

We liked this one years ago, but we didn't end up playing it. Can't remember why...maybe we did. Shit I can't remember.

Personally, I used this one:

Sister burn the temple
And stand beneath the moon
The sound of the ocean is dead
It's just the echo of the blood in your head

Missus Cinco and I danced to Patsy Cline's (Willie Nelson's) Crazy played by the New Orleans blues band the Noble Coyotes (formerly Love Brutus), who were friends of mine I hired for the reception back in 1993. It's lyrics aren't a great fit but it worked for us as we are still married.
Why do you read that kind of crap, Art? Seriously, I don't get it.

Ok...in all seriousness, this was at my wedding:

This is quite funny! Lisa's right though, find something meaningful to you. I remember using: Beethoven's Ode To Joy for the "bridal march" Chicago's You're the Inspiration for the wedding dance (gag) Of course, I'm divorced, so how much does that mean? I like the idea of using something kind of fun and funky for the first dance - of course that might require dance lessons.

Damn. That's a lot of pomp to make an entrance to.

Right now we're thinking:

The Beatles - Here ComesThe Sun (Bride's entrance)
Ennio Morricone - Love Theme from Cinema Paradiso (Signing the register)
Neil Young - Like A Hurricane, unplugged (First dance)

Still unsure what to leave the ceremony to.

We had rehearsed (and took lessons) to break out the Tango at our wedding. I got OK at it, not very good, but it was doable. Then we practiced with her the dress and it was a disaster. She was very disappointed that we couldn't do it. But if we did, we would have ended up on America's funniest videos when I stepped on her dress and ripped it off her.

Damn. Too bad!

Abaddon - like Lisa said, you have to go with what's meaningful to you. I like what you picked, except for Neil Young. Neil Young makes me want to puke, but that's up to you guys and what you are comfortable with and like. Of course, Chicago's You're the Inspiration is pretty pukey too, now that I think about it.

As for your leaving, I like Chumlee's idea - just sayin'.

What I want for the first dance is The Way Young Lovers Do by Van Morrison, but the missus doesn't like it. An alternative is Al Green's version of I Want To Hold Your Hand. But I do love Neil Young, so I'm happy with that. We could go for something funny, but my father-in-law-to-be had If You Can't Have The One You Love, Love The One You're With when he got married for the second time, and that's hard to top.
