Ron Paul says he would have handled Bin Laden differently. Probably not a great start to his campaign?

That's kind of weird, criticizing maybe the one thing Obama has done that Paul's natural base (Teabaggers, not the miniscule number of real libertarians) might approve of. I guess it's good that he's honest, but the London analogy is retarded.

The London analogy is beyond retarded. I like Paul because he truly seems to stick to principle, rather than sacrificing them to public opinion or to pander to any given audience. But, at the same time, you can stick to ideology to a fault. His ideological positions lack a lot of basic practicality. If your principle of non-intervention thinks conducting operations in Britain is like doing so in Pakistan, then your ideological calculation is lacking a key variable: reality. Had Bin Laden been in London, a few things would have happened. First, someone would have reported it to authorities years ago. Second, if the first somehow didn't happen, and the US found out about him, I'm sure that, instead of US helicopters swooping in, there would have been an urgent yet polite call from the White House to 10 Downing, followed by a raid, perhaps with the Brits allowing some American participation. The entire reason for helicopters in Pakistan is because that relationship is wholly unlike the US/UK relationship or, for that matter, any other. You can have a principle of non-intervention in sovereign territories, but the question of when practical considerations trump principle has to be weighed. Paul, despite the fact that his principles are what make him a better politician than most, seems unwilling to consider that each case might be different.

I thought the entire speech was unwise. Regarding the London part, when I first read it my thought was he gave no credit to the strategists or on ground operations (Seals) to formulate an appropriate plan taking into account logistics or location. It was more of the same of the dumbing down that has become so prevalent and annoying.

Osama bin Laden: Large stash of porn found in al-Qaeda leader’s hideout

A LARGE stash of pornography was found in Osama bin Laden’s hideout by the Navy Seals who killed him, US officials claimed.

The collection of porn recovered at the al-Qaeda leader’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, consists of modern, electronically recorded video and is fairly extensive, according to the officials.

The American officials said they were not yet sure precisely where in the compound the pornography was discovered or who had been viewing it. Specifically, they said they did not know if bin Laden himself had acquired the videos or viewed them.

Reports from Abbottabad have said that bin Laden’s compound was cut off from the internet or other hard-wired communications networks. It is unclear how compound residents would have got hold of the pornography.

But a video released by the Obama administration confiscated from the compound showed bin Laden watching himself on a TV screen, suggesting the compound had video equipment.

The picture of him at the top of that page is also a little chortle-worthy considering the headline.

I like SOME of Paul's platform but he is WAY out there on some issues. In an alternate universe he would have made a great president.
Surprise, surprise, surprise!

In the right alternate universe, everyone would make a great president......except Sarah Palin.
