I think of him as a pragmatist but I'm not sure if that's the right word. He wants to bring everyone to the table to glean all their ideas and theories and then make the best compromise that gives everyone a piece of what they want, but no one person gets everything they want.
Just to highlight this point, I had a student who is somewhat liberal, but went to a tea party meeting, just to see and be open minded. He asked the speaker, a state representative, what was wrong with moderates, and got a 20 minute lecture on why compromise is a bad thing. If that doesn't speak to the nature of the right over the last few years, I don't know what does.

It sure does highlight it. My representative is a Tea Partier, too, and he's the same way. Thinks compromise is a dirty word. What a bunch of selfish, self-centered pricks they are!!!!!!

I think so too. And I like him. I can't categorize him, so I didn't vote. I think he's more liberal, definitely. Seems like he tries to see all sides and make the best decision possible, and I trust him for that. .

That's funny considering they expect the left to compromise on everything they believe in & switch to the dark side. Twits.I think of him as a pragmatist but I'm not sure if that's the right word. His ideological inclinations are liberal but, as far as being a politician, he's about getting things done. He was always pragmatic and about getting things done.
