I like the old Sabbath with Ozzy, but I don't have a good feeling about this reunion. My instincts tell me that it will not be as heavy as it should be and will leave the fans wishing they hadn't released a piece of shit. I could be wrong, though. But, come on? How is Ozzy going to perform live? He was still good back in the 1990's. I'll give him that. Recent performances have sucked. Future performances will also probably suck unless he gets in a fucking time machine.

Good luck... I hope I have to eat my words.

I hear ya, on the album. I'm thinking back to that recent Heaven and Hell album "The Deveil You Know". It seemed so forced. Rather than worrying about it being heavy, I'd just like it to be good, regardless of how heavy it might be. Early Sabbath was a mix of heavy and bluesy and experimental. Only later did they get too attached to the "metal" label and try to force it.

The sound of the ocean is dead
It's just the echo of the blood in your head

I like this article, especially the 'Halloween riff' comment. If Ozzy and Iommi get to dominate and we get Heaven and Hell Label Society it might well suck, it really need to have Geezer and Bill as equal contributors.

I thought some of the songs on the Heaven and Hell album were actually quite good. I do know what you mean, though.

To me, 'heavy' doesn't mean down-tuned somewhere in the ninth circle of Hell with magical or occult lyrics. I just want the album to be heavy in the tradition of the old Black Sabbath. Sure, the first Black Sabbath album was unquestionably heavy. Later songs like "Dirty Women" were equally heavy in my mind. Just heavy in a different way.

I don't want cheesy ballads with Ozzy opining about lost love or any such nonsense. I don't want peppy, catchy songs with Ozzy screeching out meaningless catchphrases. I know that is exactly what we will get if Ozzy is given too much control over the final product since his harpy of a wife undoubtedly views this reunion as yet another cash cow and will push for some radio-friendly songs.

That article TAP posted was interesting. The only thing I worry about is that it isn't realistic. Bill Ward is not going to be as influential as many would hope. Isn't he always having health problems? He may not even finish the album or tour. Plus, he is supposedly a Vegan now. Everyone knows Vegans are pussies. He doesn't have enough iron in his blood to stand up for himself. Posted Image

No, I predict Iommi and Ozzy will be the major players. Geezer is along for the ride. Bill is in the picture now but may be replaced at any juncture. Would it still be a Black Sabbath reunion without the legendary Bill Ward? Not for people like us. We are not normal fans. The average person will buy the merchandise and concert tickets regardless of who is behind the drum set, and Iommi and Ozzy don't have the best track record when it comes to being loyal to past band members.

But, like I said, I wish them the best of luck in putting out something that I don't hate.

BLACK SABBATH Guitarist TONY IOMMI Diagnosed With Lymphoma - Jan. 9, 2012

Legendary BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphocytes, a type of cell that forms part of the immune system.

Iommi, 63, is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan and remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery.

This comes as BLACK SABBATH — Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and Bill Ward (drums) — are writing and recording their first album in 33 years in Los Angeles (still set for release this fall) with producer Rick Rubin. They will now go to the U.K. to continue to work with Tony.

Statement on Black Sabbath Album & Tour: Los Angeles, CA – February 2, 2012 Dear Sabbath Fans, Fellow Musicians and Interested Parties, At this time, I would love nothing more than to be able to proceed with the Black Sabbath album and tour. However, I am unable to continue unless a "signable" contract is drawn up; a contract that reflects some dignity and respect toward me as an original member of the band. Last year, I worked diligently in good faith with Tony, Ozzy and Geezer. And on 11/11/11, again in good faith, I participated in the L.A. press conference. Several days ago, after nearly a year of trying to negotiate, another “unsignable” contract was handed to me. Let me say that although this has put me in some kind of holding pattern, I am packed and ready to leave the U.S. for England. More importantly, I definitely want to play on the album, and I definitely want to tour with Black Sabbath. Since the news of Tony's illness, and the understanding that the band would move production to the U.K., I've spent everyday getting to or living in a place of readiness to leave. That involves something of a task, and as I've tried to find out what's going on with the U.K. sessions, I've realized that I've been getting "the cold shoulder" (and, I might add, not for the first time). Feeling somewhat ostracized, my guess is as of today, I will know nothing of what'shappening unless I sign "the unsignable contract." The place I'm in feels lousy and lonely because as much as I want to play and participate, Ialso have to stand for something and not sign on. If I sign as-is, I stand to lose my rights, dignity and respectability as a rock musician. I believe in freedom and freedom of speech. I grew up in a hard rock/metal band. We stood for something then, and we played from the heart with honesty and sincerity. I am in the spirit of integrity, far from the corporate malady, I am real and honest, fair and compassionate. If I'm replaced, I have to face you, the beloved Sabbath fans. I hope you will not hold me responsible for the failure of an original Black Sabbath lineup as promoted. Without fault finding, I want to assure everyone that my loyalty to Sabbath is intact. So here I am. I lay my truth down before you. I'm good to go IF I get a “signable” contract. I don't want to let anyone down, especially Black Sabbath and all the Sabbath fans. You know I love you. It would be a sad day in Rock if this current situation fell to the desires of a few. My position is not greed-driven. I'm not holding out for a "big piece" of the action (money) like some kind of blackmail deal. I’d like something that recognizes and is reflective of my contributions to the band, including the reunions that started fourteen years ago. After the last tour I vowed to never again sign on to an unreasonable contract. I want a contract that shows some respect to me and my family, a contract that will honor all that I've brought to Black Sabbath since its beginning. That's the story so far. Stay safe and stay strong. I love every single one of you. --Bill Ward

And people bitch about Axl..

Drummer Bill Ward has been removed from all the photos on the homepage and gallery section of BLACK SABBATH's official web site after he announced that he was unable to to reach a contractual agreement with his bandmates about participating in their upcoming reunion shows.

In response to the move, Tony Conley of the Facebook page 1,000,000 Black Sabbath Fans Say Yes To Bill Ward wrote, "That is simply one of the most dastardly, chickenshit things I have ever seen done in my 40-some years of watching rock and roll. Definitely the maneuver with the least class, and disrespect.

Bill asked to be removed from the pictures. Bill's great but I'm not convinced he is the hurt party in all of this, he has a history of being difficult, bailing mid tour etc. Saw videos from the show, Ozzy sounds awful.
