I like carrying on a conversation with people. To do that, I prefer to quote each segment of their post and reply beneath it. Makes things easier to follow.

I am ignorant of how to do that without having to quote their entire post, copy and paste their name before each segment, and then type out the [ / quote ] after the last word of the segment.

Is there a faster way?

Otherwise, I might have to start blowing my whole wad under their entire post. That will lead to additional confusion and misunderstandings.

I do it the way you describe, as I don't know any other.
Sister burn the temple
And stand beneath the moon
The sound of the ocean is dead
It's just the echo of the blood in your head

You don't need the long full name. Just put the ( quote ) and ( / quote ) around it. Use the correct brackets around quote though, I used parenthesis here so they would show up.

Why do you read that kind of crap, Art? Seriously, I don't get it.

Thanks for the responses.

Art,

I think you need to figure out a way to make it faster. In the old days when I used to post on forums, it never seemed so burdensome. Is it possible that I used to just start typing in the middle of someone else's larger post and it magically showed my text differentiated from theirs?

Well I just do basic tweaking with this board. What you are describing sounds intensive.

Here is a suggestion: Copy (/quote) - [with correct brackets] into clipboard. Paste it into the section of text you want to begin quoting. Then delete the / character. Then at the end of the section paste it again to close the quoted section.

Fairly simple.

Nope. I think I will just do it the normal way everyone else does.

I think I just wish it was easy like usenet. You probably can't make those sort of changes to a message board.
