This could be something big:
The US's top spy agency just dropped a big hint that an 'urgent' whistleblower complaint involves Trump or someone close to him

Impeachment should begin immediately. The Democrats can seriously kiss my ass too btw.
The argument has been made, and only the Supreme Court could decide it, that if Trump is indicted in the House, and the Senate fails to convict, his defense in later prosecutions can argue that he has already been tried by a jury of his peers and these future prosecutions violate his 5th Amendment protections(Double Jeopardy Clause). It's a solid argument, and one that no doubt the current Court would affirm.
So, is it more important to put the son of bitch in jail, later, or uphold our law, now? I think the latter. Fuck it! If a future Supreme Court grants him relief for a 5th Amendment technicality, let history be the judge.

It's also worth remembering that Nixon nearly got away with his shenanigans, It was when the Supreme Court rule that the White House would have to supply the all tapes(instead of relevant transcripts) requested that his defense realized they were fucked which came about because of House Judiciary impeachment proceedings.
In that vein, who knows what that mother fucker is hiding?

... and so it begins. Remember folks, Neither the House had the votes to indict, nor the Senate the votes to convict, when the House Judiciary Committee began their investigation of Nixon.

Do you think there will be a tipping point where GOP representatives actually begin to defect? Today they are indignant.

It's hard to say. Back then, it was when the congressional Republicans came to the realization that Nixon was a liar(viz a viz the tapes). Now, everyone knows Trump is a lying piece of shit. Will they put party above country? Absolutely, but if their support of him starts to impact their re-elections, they will abandon him like a mangy dog.
I suspect this is the beginning of the end of the party that found its roots in the demise of the Whigs.
