Oh yes he's insane... He's like a mix of Gary Busey, Axl and Harry Potter; yet plays a mean Flying V. I guess when you start drinking and drugging at 14 and stop at 45....He has been fucked over losing his song rights, his trademark Gibson Flying V and Gibson contract, cars, home, etc......but I'm sure it wasn't easy for his ex-wife, family and friends to live in his world. Duff said drug addiction or just addiction, is a full time job and the other stuff you do is just to keep it going..You know work, family, friends etc... Insanity.

I think the earlier you start using the more fucked up you end up as an adult.

Find the live version of Rock Bottom from UFO's Strangers in the Night album - Schenker's solo is one of the all time great solos IMO. That whole album rules actually.

I think Gary's better singing days are gone. MSG would have done better with a younger and able to hit higher notes singer than Gary. All the songs kind of sound like spoken word books. If they had a guy say of a Bruce Dickerson type, the album would have done really well.

His voice was gone 20 years ago, but there's a lot of mileage in 'original' and you can always block out the bad singing and fill it in yourself live :) Did they make a recent album with him, I missed that completely - last MSG album I bought was Unforgiven.

Yeah the last one "In The Midst Of Beauty". Every song sounds the same vocally and the music isn't bad. They could have done much better with a younger or better singer. It sounds and very well may be as if he sang the songs and they put it over the music. Bad producing and not so great vocals. You can get 30 second clips I think on Real or Windows Media Player? Graham Bonnet could have filled the bill. Did you know that Ozzy considered MS as a replacement for Randy Rhodes but MS asked for too much even before trying out and Ozzy said Fuck Off! I like MS and he's great and all but he's and nobody is Randy Rhodes.

Randy was great of course, but I prefer MS at his peak - Randy knew *a lot* about classical music and incorporated that, but MS flows better to my ears. Blackmore beats both though:) There's a good read - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath: The Battle for Black Sabbath by Garry Sharpe-Young which is a very detailed history of Sabbath and Ozzy post 1979 split. What a load of fucked up shit on both sides and constant competition between both camps. Has whole the Bernie Torme story in a lot of detail for example. Worth getting......

Michael was also asked to join the Stones (70s), Aerosmith (don't know when) and Deep Purple ('94)

Wow Thanks...I heard of the Aerosmith thing when Joe Perry and Steven Tyler were fighting so I guess whenever The Joe Perry Project was ongoing... I liked some of Perry's solo stuff but I remember he opened or at least was one of the openers for Blizzard Tour and was booed off the stage, so it had to be around 80-81? Just a guess though.

Due to a delay in Visa processing, the final step in receiving the necessary paperwork required for Michael Schenker to enter North America was stalled. This will cause the MSG In The Midst Of Beauty USA/Canada Tour to be postponed until June-July.
