We all go through spurts of exercise and just laziness. Who does what and what tips can you offer?

Swimming is the best for you really. Cross country ski is also excellent. Riding the toboggan, not much cardio but fun.

Yeah but imagine the old toboggan riders of the 80's in the Olympics with those huge cone helmets.

Eating in moderation sucks at times! I'm damn hungry right now after eating. But I guess if you don't eat right and you don't exercise you will gain weight and also suffer from different ailments as a result. Sleep is also important as well.

eating in moderation does so so so suck at times!!! Although tonight wasn't one of them..the young lad requested some of mom's comfort food for this wonderful -26 c weather..windchill makes it feel like -38 or some shit...seriously fucking cold..anyhoo I digress... I try to realy watch. Fatassville could be just around the corner for me. Since the birth of Alex 14 years ago, I have had to struggle to keep it off. I have been on the receiving end of some pretty horrible shit being over weight..it really is hurtful, totally demoralizes a person and a long time ago I vowed I would never let anyone treat me like that again. My weight can fluctuate 10lb from month to month..especially winter when I do not do the things I normally do..just not a fan of freezing the nipples off... I try to limit the amount of alcohol I consume as well. I agree that does not always work but I do not drink a fraction of what I used to drink a few years ago.Now I find it hard to have two glasses of wine at night without wanting to go to bed.Besides, alcohol slows down your metabolism for 48 hours or more and really is counter-productive. Sleep has always been an issue for me. I am always getting not enough or sleeping for 12 hours to make up for being up 24 when I have a long driving shift on the weekends..like this Sat for instance..I will be up around 8am, show, meet up with friends for breakfast and be in Waterloo for 1-1:30 pm and then drive hack till 4-5 am..then drive another hour back home...get to bed and sleep from 6-7 am till 6 pm...dinner, some grocery shopping and back to bed to get up for my Mon shift in the office at 4am..I leave at 4:30 ish to be in the office by 5:30 or so. I found if I am still hungry even after eating sensibly, I get the blendar out, 2 cups of ice and a nice big splash of fresh (not from concentrate) OJ, maybe a couple strawberries if I got'em and blend it to a nice slushie..I eat it with a spoon and it is delicious and guilt free..plus fool the brain and stomach.

Sleep is important to keep healthy and in weight control. It's a metabolism thing. Especially after hitting a certain age which can vary from person to person. Eating regular low fat 3 to 5 small meals is a good thing. Snacks instead of one of those meals is fine. Fruits and vegetables as a snack is filling and better than chips or cookies and you can eat as much of it as you want. Soda is OK if it's diet but only one. If you do not like diet sodas or pops then try flavored water or seltzers. Plenty of water is always good for you. You should drink 6 to 8 glasses a day. Gatorade and stuff like that are only needed if you do real strenuous activities fairly often. It's not good to drink them because they taste good because they all have a lot of sugars, sodium and other stuff that your body doesn't need. As far as exercise, your body really only needs 3 to 4 days a week of 20 to 30 minutes of cardio to keep weight off or in check. It's fine to mix in weights but the cardio is the most important. It is also a great way of relieving stress. Walking, biking, jogging etc. are all easy ways to burn calories, reduce stress and keep your metabolism going to burn off sugars and fats.

Ever read "Body For Life"? It's the most simple exercise routine and diet I've ever followed, and produces amazing results. You see results QUICK. The Missus did it once and got RIPPED, just cut up. Less than twelve weeks. Five little meals a day, gym three days, cardio 3 days, one free day to eat whatever you want. I try to stick to this as much as possible.
