PHOENIX — Hall of Famer Charles Barkley began serving a three-day jail sentence Saturday for a drunken-driving charge. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Barkley already had been acting like a "model inmate," even chatting with others at Tent City, where inmates are housed in tents rather than traditional jail cells. Barkley has a private tent, but is close enough to other inmates to talk, Arpaio said. Barkley, a TNT studio analyst, was to spend Saturday in custody, but will be given work release from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. He will get work release at 8 a.m. Monday and will not have to return to the tents at 8 p.m. That adds up to about 36 hours in jail. Arpaio said Barkley, 46, is not being given special treatment and has a separate tent for his own safety. Meals will be brought to Barkley. "I didn't have to put him in the tents. I could have put him in a cell all by himself — that would be special," Arpaio said. Barkley pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor DUI charges stemming from a Dec. 31 arrest, shortly after leaving a Scottsdale nightclub. He had a blood-alcohol level of .149 percent, nearly twice the legal limit of .08 percent. And yet during an interview he still acts like an ass. Talking about others who should be in jail. He's a big dope.
You never ask a navy man if he'll have another drink, because it's nobody's goddamned business how much he's had already.

I used to but have started to dislike some of the stupid stuff he says when commentating or when interviewed. I liked him as a player but he also puts himself up there with Larry Bird, Shaq, Michael Jordan...yeah he may have played with them but never won a title or carried the whole team either. I don't know I'll probably like him again??? He's funny but at times a real dumb ass.

There are plenty of players I would rank with those, that haven't won a title either. Charles tell it like he sees it . and will say whats on his mind.

Yeah, but they don't put themselves in the same league that Charles does. Yeah I guess he says what's on his mind but sometimes it doesn't even make sense. He can laugh at himself because he does get the WTF look from the other guys in the sports world?? I don't know either way today I don't like him because of what he was saying. He was jailed for 3 Days for DWI and still was making the case that others should be in there other than him. I'm sure I'll read something later that he'll say he deserved it and make up for it but he's in tent city signing autographs talking about about others???

Jordan and Barkley carried the entire NBA in 1993, and it was only fitting that the two faced off against each other in the Finals that year. I'm not a Barkley nutswinger by any means, and in fact don't even watch basketball anymore and haven't in years, but you cant really deny what he brought to the game, and specifically that season.

He resurrected his career, became an "anti hero", was the major factor in the Suns having that incredible season, and was the perfect nemesis to the safe and cozy image of Jordan that the league had been pushing for years.

Phoenix deserved to be champs, but not even God could stop that Jordan-Pippen juggernaut.
Surprise, surprise, surprise!

He's an Allstar and a HOF'er but he also puts himself there by his own words which is a turn off to me.... He did carry his team but not consistently every year like others.
