I've always believed that so much of the anti-gay or anti-sex sentiment is guilt driven. You grow up religious, you also happen to be gay, and now you have two things you can't easily reconcile. Youre either a closeted homosexual who has gay sex, feels guilty, and lashes out (see: the Orlando Pulse shooting) or you drop the religion, knowing that you'll also be estranged from family.
I truly feel sorry for these people. I can't imagine how hard it is to grow up in a culture that tells you that you're flawed and sinful and less than a person.
