We're getting ready to go to my sister-in-law's house for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

We were going to do Thanksgiving today, but it turns out most of us will be here for the Holidays (everybody was going different places) so we'll just do the bird on Thursday.

Hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving meals. All the turkey talk just makes me think of Christmas and the plans I need to make. Still not 100% sure how I'm going to cook the bird this year.

Have you guys seen the new oil-less turkey fryers? They use infrared technology, but taste like a fried turkey. You can use them to make french fries, etc.

I only like the dark meat that the breeders keep trying to breed out of the birds.

If I could force people to try one thing once in their lives it'd be a good quality turkey, properly cooked. The mass-produced stuff is horrific and people cook it to death, and I reckon most turkey hate is down to these experiences. Turkey can be a beautiful thing if you splash out on the right bird and show it enough love.

Today is a Slim Fast and salad day to make up for eating a turkey dinner on Sunday and left overs yesterday.

I meant cooked well, rather than there being one specific way.

This is the method I've had the most success with:

But there are plenty of other ways.

Been simmering a turkey stock for a few hours now. Was going for 4, but may go longer. It isn't reducing as much as I'd like. Looks fantastic though.
