That's sick. How many more kids and grandchildren does he have? You'd think this guy would eventually learn that when he fucks with the US, he has to plan a series of funerals for his loved ones.

Has anyone heard any theories about how OBL received regular dialysis over the last 10 years while hiding out in the desolate mountains of Afghanistan and Pakistan? If indeed he had kidney disease.

http://www.snopes.co...mors/kidney.asp

That's why an autopsy was needed and I wouldn't be surprised if the Navy did an autopsy but it will remain classified for obvious reasons.

In the time frame of this operation, is it even possible for a quick autopsy to have been conducted, at least kidney removal? However, since blood was taken(I assume) for a DNA test, they can probably run various tests just on blood to see if the rumors were true.

Does Obamacare pay for blood tests without insurance? Posted Image

Seems like a minor and irrelevant issue, but I think it would be good intel and show one aspect of Al Qaeda propaganda.

How would an air strike been more risky? The Pakistan military was right there, and unaware of US operations. They could have tried to shoot our SEALS down.

Resign? C'mon, that's a little dramatic I think. Posted Image

Air strikes and special ops missions two different ball games. How Pakistan would have reacted to strikes are unknown. I doubt they would have been pleased regardless of the target, and air strikes would have increased the likelihood of civilian casualties.

Resigning maybe a bit drastic but the fallout from a Carter II would have been huge.

I highly doubt he was tortured. It sounds like they simply went in to kill and that's it. Deserved to be tortured, if only to get info out of him but I see nothing wrong with simply killing anything that moved in that compound and then getting the hell out of there.

I know they wanted to stick to Islamic traditions, but I would have done an autopsy to see if the kidney failure/dialysis rumors were indeed true.

Historical note: Hitler death announcement also came on May 1 (1945). 66 years ago

Its also the 8th anniversary of Bush's 'Mission Accomplished' speech.

Obama took a huge chance here IMO. He could have simply bombed the place and then tried to ID the body. Would have been much less political risk going that route I think. Sending the SEALS in helicopters to put a bullet through his head could have easily cost him his presidency if the mission failed. They comparisons to Carter's failed rescue attempt would have been permanently affixed to him too, and he knew it.

I think an air strike on Pakistan would have been much riskier than a special ops mission.

Agree 1000000000000% on a Carter fiasco had this mission not turned out the way it did. Might have even resigned in disgrace.

Hey Gomer, I'm getting "Them" from netflix today. I'll watch it & give you my grade.

Have a feeling you're gonna love it especially since you like The Strangers. After watching this I think you'll agree that The Strangers had so much more potential.

Another movie in this vein I strongly recommend is Funny Games. The foreign version much superior to its remake so check that one out first. Both were directed by the same guy(Michael Haneke), but definitely watch the original first.

Slaves and Bulldozers - Soundgarden Posted Image

I consider that track the 'Coma' of BMF. Just a MONSTER track. Should have closed the album.

Download their new live album 'Live on I5'. Its from the Down On The Upside tour but some of the tracks are stellar. Hearing Head Down live is worth the download alone.

Tonight is a GAME CHANGER for Obama.

How will the GOP beat him now?

Haven't you seen? They've already started congratulating Bush II. Also, the military is a socialist institution.

Bush and Obama both deserve credit. Two almost identical empty suits but they kept going after this guy until the objective was achieved. On issues such as Bin Laden being murdered, the political hack crap should be abandoned. Not directing that at you, just a general statement based on some forums I've read since this happened.

As far as 2012 goes, Obama is going to win. A 3rd conflict that has the potential to get dicey, the death of Bin Laden, and the GOP not having anyone worthy will guarantee his reelection.

Its 2004 all over again.

Cant stand Obama but I certainly support what he did and the speech was actually good. He put off a vibe of being in control, not fucking around, and if he continues to portray this image I don't know how he can lose. Gingrich the only viable candidate to oppose him but the guy just has too much baggage.

Got my tickets yesterday.

Axl should have taken this guy and ran with it in early 2000's.

I don't get it either. You have the most talented guitarist in a generation in your band but have him play second fiddle to Robin Finck of all people and sit on the material for years. Axl acts like he doesn't give a shit but you know he has regrets. GNR in the early 00's could have had a similar run to Audioslave.

So which film out of this iconic franchise is your favorite? While I love several of the films, I have always preferred II. Jason is very realistic here and pretty much just a "normal" deranged killer and the film has a creepy atmosphere. The sack was much more effective than the mask although the use of the mask in III played a huge role in turning the character into an icon. The film with the best cast was definitely IV.

Priest for sure. I had a cousin that was a massive Maiden nutswinger in the 80s. Used to drive me crazy. Only song from Maiden I really like is Wasted Years. They had great album covers though.

I don't enjoy watching horror movies.

I don't either. I like scary movies, but I do not enjoy torture, blood, guts etc. I don't know why anybody would want to put those images in their head.

Well I like all genres, I guess I grew up watching everything. But yes, suspense mixed w/modern day horror or grossness can be good. Have you seen "The Strangers"? It's much more suspenseful, really not much gore. It's actually quite good.

I'd recommend Ils over The Strangers. Ils superior in every way plus it has a great twist.

SLC since you're into real horror instead of "torture porn" or whatever people are calling it now, you should really dive into foreign horror films.

We all know that the UN is a truly altruistic organization that holds no hypocrisy in its resolutions. And moreso, it has teeth behind its bark to enforce its rulings. It's the only forum where 3rd world countries have the same say as those productive 1st world countries that keep everyone else afloat.

Absolutely, ask the guys that were at Srebrenica. Oh wait...

Posted Image Feel bad for laughing at that. The UN should have been disbanded during that crisis. Some of the Reagan books I read many moons ago said he despised the UN and felt it was long past its expiration date.

Like NATO, its just another relic of the Cold War.

Mailman is a killer tune. One of their best songs. Superunknown one of the greatest albums ever made.

Is Badmotorfinger in that vein, or are all of their albums pretty eclectic?

Message in a Bottle - The Police

Badmotorfinger is an entirely different beast than Superunknown. BMF closer to a straight up metal album. It was extremely difficult for the media to pigeonhole them into that grunge sound at the time.

A LOT of people prefer BMF over Superunknown. You're in for a real treat. Download it NOW. You'll listen to it continuously and regret waiting so long to hear it.

Always felt Riad is like the bastard child of Crash Victim even though Tommy supposedly wrote Riad. The two definitely seem like companion pieces especially when played one right after the other.

Those songs could have easily been taken to Axl as well. Blows my fucking mind that Axl let Bucket release Electric Tears in 2002 while GNR was in limbo and could have used an injection of these amazing songs.

#45123 Movies To See And Please No Spoilers.

Posted by Gomer Pyle on 26 April 2011 - 08:50 PM in Silver Screen

Watched a few movies this week... Scream 4- I liked it. The twist came out of nowhere and since you don't want spoilers, cant really say anything else. I'd give it a 6/10. Human Centipede- I love twisted movies. This was great although he never really explains why he wants to do this. Being a doctor that separates Siamese twins not a good enough explanation for me. I also didn't like the doctor's accent. Had difficulty understanding what he said half the time. The guy in the 3 person centipede got on my nerves quickly. Almost turned the movie off. He does not speak english and hearing him yell gibberish was pointless. One of the girls should have been the head of the centipede. Loved the ending. I'll give it a 6/10 High Lane- A foreign film with a group of friends mountain climbing in the Balkans somewhere and they are stalked by some unknown killer in the process.. A better cast would have vastly improved this film. The flashbacks made zero sense as they are short and no explanation is given for what the flashbacks are trying to convey. The geek pussy got on my nerves. He shakes in his boots and has panic attacks every two seconds and most of my viewing experience was spent wondering why this dipshit is on this trip in the first place. I'll give it a 5/10.

#45122 All TV All Day

Posted by Gomer Pyle on 26 April 2011 - 08:39 PM in Silver Screen

While it's shit quality, you can watch the entire series on youtube.

Only the first three seasons were released on DVD. Strange that Netflix never picked up the other two.

I had to sign up on Blockbuster.com to get seasons 2 & 3. I feel like a traitor towards Netflix. Now I've got dual places sending me dvd's, I'll be up to my neck in dvd's for the next month. Anyway, blockbuster truly sucks, no wonder they went bankrupt. They've got some weird lock thingie that tells you the discs come as a set but then they don't send you the discs in order, you have to break it in order to get sequential order of discs. Huh???? Plus, they have the incorrect disc length on the sleeve AND they don't tell you what year it came out. Isn't that like a basic thing on dvd sleeves? I hate blockbuster.

I hate Blockbuster with a passion but if its the only way to watch DVD quality Party of Five, I don't blame you for dancing with the devil.

Every now and then you'll see petitions pop up for the rest of the series to be released. Since you're an obvious fan you should sign it.

Season 2 is fucking great. If you thought you were hooked on season 1, you may need an intervention after watching season 2. Posted Image

Did you guys ever watch Party of Five? I'm rewatching it on Netflix, that was a damn good show....so far, I'm only on episode like 8.

Based on the first 3 seasons I would consider it one of the greatest TV shows ever made. Season 4 is ok but 5 is a complete disaster and when 6 started I was just begging for quick closure.

I was like that with Dawson's Creek, the first season was really good. Then, they got a new writer & you could totally tell in season 2 I believe it was. Netflix can bite me, they only offer Season 1 of Party of Five. Now what the hell am I going to do? I'm still only on disc 4 for season 1, one more disc after this. And yes, the show is so damn good, every episode. They haven't lapsed once yet.

While it's shit quality, you can watch the entire series on youtube.
