We've grown accustomed to and demand SS and Medicare for our seniors. I certainly want it to be there for me. However we've also demanded low taxes and sought leaders who would lie to us and kick the can down the road. Can't have it both ways. If we want this lifestyle, then we should all pay. Raise taxes for everybody and cut spending.

What do you want to cut then? I'm all for raising taxes, but I want a dollar cut for every dollar taken - and that's after we balance the budget. Defense needs to be cut, and it is, but it's only a fraction of our spending. Funny how it falls under "discretionary" when it's mandated by the constitution, yet other entitlements continue to grow in additon to new cabinet postions and their staffers. A lot of people are going to have to suck it up and come back to Earth if we're going to get the budget under control. Nation building and social engineering through 600$ personal stimulus checks or cash for clunkers aren't helping.

Where is that site we had up before? Where you could make cuts and increase revenue to balance the budget? I think it may have even been a newspaper website. Great little program...anwyay.

I can tell you now the majority would probably be military.

Newsweek has managed to stir up another round of controversy with its latest provocative cover.
Last summer, Tina Brown's title riled up the right with its controversial cover photo of Michele Bachmann. The magazine's current issue immediately did the same. It features a story by writer Andrew Sullivan about President Obama. The cover headline? "Why Are Obama's Critics So Dumb?"

The article is a bit more nuanced. Sullivan writes that "Obama has delivered in a way that the unhinged right and purist left have yet to understand or absorb." Even so, conservatives pounced. "If in recent years it seems as if Newsweek has been descending into self-parody, it's still hard to imagine that this is real," a writer for the Weekly Standard wrote. The Instapundit blog also mocked the choice of photo for the cover, saying, "He looks terrible, and surprisingly like Jimmy Carter, even down to the downturned liverish lips and incipient jowls."

Appearing on MSNBC's "Hardball," Sullivan defended his story, saying he was simply telling the truth about Obama, whom he described as a "sensible, pragmatic centrist."

See the cover, and watch Sullivan's defense, below.

Why does Newt think people don't have an obligation to question him about the details of his unorthodox marriage when he is so vocally against gay marriage as being "wrong" and immoral. The double standards abound yet again, and his supporters seem to have no problem with them. Sickening.

Are GOP debates the new crack? They'll be having 3/day soon. I guess they have some effect since the polls change by the day also, but seriously how can anyone not either decide who to vote for by now, or conclude they are all insane? It's like the process is consuming itself, it's just self parody by now.

I thought the Dem debates were just as repetitive and boring...does anybody know the count at this point?

I know. When he was asked about it, he immediately started belittling the "media". I'm surprised he didn't accuse that guy of a "gotcha" moment. Such double standards. He uses the media to berate the president & Romney & then turns around & cries about the media when he's asked an honest question about his problems w/infidelity. Asshole.

After watching a couple dem debates, I just couldn't do it anymore. Nothing new is said after the first debate so really, what's the point of watching?
