Somali militants have threatened football fans they will be publicly flogged - or worse - if they are caught watching the World Cup on TV.
.
.
On Saturday militants killed two people as they attacked a house where people were watching a game.
.
.
A spokesman for the group, Sheikh Mohamed Abdi Aros said the rest of Somalia should respect their ban on the World Cup.
"We are warning all the youth of Somalia not to dare watch these World Cup matches. It is a waste of money and time and they will not benefit anything or get any experience by watching mad men jumping up and down," he said.

France are seeded because they were runners up last time, and remember that Portugal also had to go through a playoff to get to the finals (they finished behind a weak looking Denmark) and haven't played yet. France looked weak in the early games in 2006 too from what I remember.
I can't imagine why four years would NOT matter. France went from champion to 32nd place (no goals in 2002) to 2nd place, if memory serves. Not to mention that Portugal was in the semis in 2006. I wasn't aware of their qualifying difficulties, though. Not that qualifying means much, since teams use so many players.

How silly. I can't imagine much to live for in Somalia. If some like the sport, then that, at least, is something.

I'm officially choosing North Korea as my second team
So anyway, I've lived in England, USA, Spain, Switzerland and New Zealand - so I'm predicting a 1-1 draw for Spain and Switzerland tomorrow to keep up the record.
Yeah, I was really pullling for NK. Granted, I'd pull for anyone against Brazil, but NK is the underdog of underdogs.

I actually watched that game..I thought they were very 'god'wow, no one seems to want to win this thing other than Germany - and we'll see how they are against a stronger side. Chile looked pretty god from what I saw.
I use to coach PeeWee house league when I was younger and both my boys played when they were little...but still can't get over the International love of the sport..it is immense everywhere but in Canada..no wonder you didn't ever live here Tap

Much more interesting in the second round of matches. And au revoir les bleus - Ich bin ein mexicaner as the Irish say.
Mexico played like they want it, today, so I'll happily root for my neighbors once more...especially since South Africa seems poised to ruin the "hosts make the round of 16" rule.
Granted, assuming (yeah..."ass of of u and me") that Mex and Uruguay play for the draw that will benefit both, they're setting themselves up with a TOUGH second rounder against Argentina. But that's one I'd sure as hell watch.

You took kids to porn theatres and publicly masturbated?
Let me guess..."double-sided" was the secret word?
