The scientific importance of Grand Staircase-Escalante can't be overstated. The Late Triassic is a poorly understood period in the evolution of mammals and dinosaurs, and there is a high probability of significant discoveries to be made in the area.

Science vs Everyone???

 

Sometime, likely between early 2025 and late 2026, a 500kg failed Soviet Venus probe will crash back to Earth. It was launched in 1972 and due to a failure of one of its stages, it never left Earth orbit.

 

Now, it's returning home. And, it was designed to survive atmospheric entry, so it will likely smack the ground with significant energy(they don't think the parachutes will deploy after all these years). While highly unlikely it will impact a populated area(Earth's a big place with a lot of water in between), it could fuck some shit up if it did.
