This is Кипелов with Герой асфальта, or Kipelov with Hero of Asphalt. Love this band. Some great Russian bands that get no air time over here, which is very unfortunate. The lead singer is Valeri Kipelov.

Sorry, but that's awful.

I like that, Zimbo. Do you know what the stone circles at the 2:03 mark in the video are for?

I'm not sure where those specific ones are located. Stone circles are scattered all over Africa, most notably Gambia, Senegal, Ghana, even as far south as Zimbabwe. No one seems to have any idea what purpose they served, there's lots of speculation such as astrological mapping or ancestor worship. The ones in Senegal and Gambia are very similar to Stonehenge, so some think Stonehenge was built usuing slaves from that region.

Interesting! Thanks, Zimbo.

Timothy: I don't know if you were kidding about the Ricky Martin video being one of Punk's favorites, or not. But I like it. Did anyone see his interview where he introduced his surrogate twin baby boys and talked about coming out? I think it was about a year ago. It may have been on Oprah. Anyway, he sure looked like a happy guy then.

It would seem fitting to enjoy some Egyptian music today. And worth noting, Amr Diab is the best-selling Arab recording artist of all time. I'm always amazed by how insular music is in the US, here you have a guy who has sold over 50 million albums, and very few people stateside have ever heard of him. Oh well, my whine is over. Enjoy.

Love this. Emmanual Jal was a child-soldier in Sudan and is now an activist. He is a very inspiring man.
