Shosholoza. This is a very old traditional call and response song sung in Zimbabwe and South Africa. It was sung by mineworkers travelling on trains. Sung either in Ndebele or Zulu.

One of my all-time favorite songs. Sung in Xhosa.

Has anyone here ever taken part in a drum circle? We went to one a couple of summers ago. It was held in a park and anyone who wander by to listen someone from the group would offer them a drum, rattle or an assortment of other instruments I'd never seen. God, it was fun. I'd do it again in a heart beat.

Drum circles are fantastic. I'm responsible for hosting an International Festival at the kids school every year, and this year one of the musical events was a drum circle. We had abut 10 guys come and lead the circle. and they brought many varied percussion instruments. It really was fantastic. The drummers stayed about 30 minutes after the close of the event because they were having so much fun, and the kids wouldn't stop drumming. It's quite primal really.

As long as it doesn't end with a drum circle jerk. Posted Image
Sister burn the temple
And stand beneath the moon
The sound of the ocean is dead
It's just the echo of the blood in your head

I think a couple of years ago some people here in NOLA were forming a drum circle to stop all the murders we have. The killings continue.
Why do you read that kind of crap, Art? Seriously, I don't get it.

The last remaining (living) original band member has been in this band for over 60 years.

This band is actually out of LA, but they are classified as Cambodian pop, so I'll post it here. Reminds of simpler 60's music, and I really like it. Here is the entire CD:
