Has anyone paid any attention to Rick Perry, who is poised to run as a Republican candidate? He's having a day-long "call to Jesus" kind of rally in August billed as "a non-demominational, apolitical, Christian prayer meeting" in a Houston stadium. He's inviting other governors and his funding comes from the American Family Association, "an organization labeled a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center," according to the Huffington Post article below. I see so many conservative pundits practically drooling over this guy's possible run for the White House. If he becomes their candidate, Obama is sure to get a second term. Perry is down right scary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's a big deal in Texas. Perry reminds me of Elmer Gantry. Anyone remember who he is? A great big phoney with a Bible in one hand and a wad of cash in the other.

He looks like a hybrid between Josh Brolin (who played Bush I think) and Bush junior, with characteristics of Reagan sprinkled about. Add in the "everything pertains to Christ" factor and you could have a guy that really appeals to the GOP base. I'd imagine indy voters would be turned off, but I would have thought that about W as well.

He is dangerous, but his treasonous rhetoric should kill any hopes of national political ambitions.
I hope they have some of that rhetoric on tape to use in commercials, should he end up being the front runner in the Republican party. A lot of those social conservatives and over-the-top secessionists know enough to change their rhetoric when speaking to the general public. His anti-gay crap won't go over well with liberals, either, and hopefully not with independents.
