I can't go back to cable. All those channels I would have to pay for with all those shows I would never watch. (shudders) I just want to pay for 5 or less channels to stream to my home. I mean get with the modern tech people! I know Steve Jobs will deliver me from the last century delivery model that is cable tv. Soon hopefully. I can't handle reality tv. I start to think about the mechanics of it and get off into the weeds. How much is scripted? How many dull and boring hours were shot to assemble 22 minutes for the week? How many good TV show ideas never get made because the reality tv shows cost so little? Is reality tv somehow to blame for FOX screwing up Firefly. Was reality tv to blame for the final season of LOST? Why do so many cities vie for realness of their housewives? It goes on and on. As for trolling you need to get on Twitter more.

Reality TV is a great deal cheaper to produce than what we've been used to for years. I wish they'd loss their popularity because I really don't think most of them are good for society to watch...like The Cardassians, for example. Artcinco: I also wish we didn't have to take packages with cable and we could just pick and choose the channels we really watch. We get 75 channels, but who has time to watch that much TV? And this is coming from someone who turns TV first thing after I get up and turns it off the last thing before falling asleep. (It's mostly background noise for doing other things, though.) We could easily be happy with 10 channels if they were the "right" ones for our tastes.

I cut the cable cord a couple of years ago. I get good reception with an antenna locally. I get all the regular broadcast networks in HD and PBS and a couple independent stations too for free. I pay for Netflix to get additional stuff and pick up Hulu too over the internet.

As I said there are only a handful of channels I would pay for at this point. I think the cable cos will have to start offering a la cart pricing before one of the big ones, looking at you Disney, start offering internet subscriptions and start cutting out the cable cos. I would be happy if the cable cos become a dumb pipe of connectivity of internet to my house, kind of like the telephone cos. Another hope is that Apple will turn their Apple TV into a video on demand app store where any content provider can sell an app through. I think that is on the horizon.

I think Comcast saw this stuff coming and decided to start buying content producers hence their purchase of NBC. We are in for more changes in the near future.

The best ever was teh Joe Schmo Show, which was a fake reality show --- all actors and only one guy who didn't know it was staged, so it was a total set up to see how he'd react.

Most of the SAINTS games are on free local over the air. That is plenty sports for me.

But your point is valid. Sports viewers really cannot cut the cord and be happy. This also works against non-sports fans since ESPN and sports networks count as one of the biggest expenses on your bill. If you don't watch ESPN or sports channels, you can be happy in knowing you are subsidizing those who do. Cable TV is socialism. Posted Image

I get more Jesus channels than sports channels....which is confusing since there was one Jesus (not counting his South-of-the-Border namesakes) and many sports.
