How come guys only communicate in grunts? Why do you only respond w/like a 1 or 2 short sentence reply? Why is it like pulling teeth to get guys to, oh I don't know, perhaps get serious & actually, oh I don't know, reveal things while having a discussion? FRUSTRATING!!!!
They can talk your arm off about sports, cars and a dozen other topics but when it comes to talking about feelings and emotions most guys talk in grunts---at least that's been my experience too. Ask questions that can be answered with a 'yes' or 'no'. LOL

Why do women talk for 5 minutes about something when the point is obvious within half a sentence? More words doesn't equal better communication.

Feeling defensive, lol? You're right, some women talk too much. However, at least when you ask us a question it's not like pulling teeth to get an answer. Why do women talk for 5 minutes about something when the point is obvious within half a sentence? More words doesn't equal better communication.

Not defensive, just the flipside to a cliche. Of course most cliches are based somewhat on fact - mean and women communicate differently, women are generally more verbal, we make up for it with better spacial awareness There are biological/natural selection reasons for that, it's not just cultural. If you really care about the answers, you need to find a different way to ask the questions or at least think more about the non-answers, that tells you something in itself.

Topics which tend to be competitive based no? Little secret - we talk about that stuff even when women aren't around, we don't suddenly start confessing our deepest fears and anxieties and getting all emotional. Guys banter, girls are better at collaborative conversation - though also pretty good at dressing up competitive stuff in pretend collaboration

Posing the question in a grunt form may also be helpful.
