For GOP, Cruz, Haley, Noem, and DeSantis, will be in the mix with others. There were 19 in 2016. Romney and Pence are kryptonite to the base but there will likley be an estab candidate or two. Trump may run if stars align but may not. Pompeo would be uphill but could run if say backed by Trump and breakaway Patriot or Trump Party.

If Kam has ascended then she will be nom. I would think if Biden isn't running again for whatever reason the party may have him step down so Kam can run as President. If Biden steps down after two years and a day Kam could still have 2 additional terms.

Cruz is done IMO. His schtick doesn't work without Trump noise.

Cruz was pretty much the runner up to Trump last time. He could easily position himself as Trump policies the base likes without all the Orange Man Bad stuff that the regular folk didn't and get the nom. General would depend on circumstances at the time and who his opponent is plus economy/covids.

Why do you read that kind of crap, Art? Seriously, I don't get it.

The GOP is doing its time in the wilderness thing. Will the party go the way of the Whigs? Will there be a breakaway new party? Being in the minority especially in the Senate favors the moderates like Mitt to do some go along get along. They will get loving coverage in the mainstream media. The base likes fighters and will rally around anybody who stands against the Democrat proposals such as Rand Paul or Cruz. But in about a year things will start to gel a bit and this will set the tone for 2022. GOP would like to get Congress back which is the historical reality. It will be a verdict on Biden and if peeps like what he is doing or not.

It seems odd to me how quickly the GOP lost many of its traditional conservative values in servitude to Trump, and basically became a party of economic nationalists.  I suppose the religious conservatives never cared too much...as long as there's one abortion, who can worry about something as silly as "the economy", right?  But lots of them have to be cringing at what has happened.  But, again, many Trump-like folks have been elected and some, who only care about power, will blow with the wind.

I don't think there were really any conservative values as claimed. Try to draw a line through Reagan, Bush neocons, evangelicals, tea party, Benghazi, Trump and there's very little left besides white supremacy and shifting wealth to the 1%ers. I'm sure there are some Republicans who genuinely believed, but they left (the never trumpers). There's nothing else you can align with how the GOP kept its base besides cultural, racial and religious rigidity and superiority.

Honestly I think the biggest thing stopping him is that he’s an unhealthy, overweight, near senile mid 70s man. Good luck to the GOP in getting him through the next 4 years let alone the 4 after that if he wins. Honestly the Dems should hope he runs

I sincerely wonder what part of the GOP is even conservative any more? I'm more conservative than most "conservatives" I know of. I'm also more Christlike than most Christians and that's not hyperbole either.

I think we've finally got Biden dead to rights. Thanks Kevin, you're a true patriot.

people are conservative until they lose their position in social hierarchy. It’s okay as long as the “right”people are kept from improving their lives
