Topics I've Started

Films that were made for the story and not the money

So which films have you seen where the story felt more important than the box office profits? I can't think of many but Mystic River, The Woodsman, The Green Mile, Dead Man Walking. I appreciate all are concerned with the eventual profit margins but they never felt like it while viewing them

Historical buildings V's new modern buildings

20 August 2010 - 12:47 PM

Today i got to wondering about buildings, now that may seem very random but it led me to question which types of buildings i prefer.I love some of the new buildings architects create, they use space and light so well but there is just something about the character of older buildings, they have stories to tell and in some cases secrets to keep.I see old buildings and no matter how much of a run down shit hole they have become i can't help but be curious and sad at the same time. With newer buildings they have to be visually spectacular to stand a chance of peaking my interest. So the question is : Save older more historically interesting buildings or pave the way for the future but building innovative modern sculptural buildings?
