#35072 The Video Game Thread - Formerly The Chinese Democracy Of Video Games.

This could go either way. It's been gone waaaaaaaaaaaay too long but considering the fact most hardcore gamers are adults and will remember this, it might be a success. It had huge potential in the 90s/early 00s as a major franchise but of course they threw it all away. I don't give a shit about it anymore but will check it out for shits and giggles.

#35095 All Time Band Game anybody interested?

Posted by Gomer Pyle on 09 September 2010 - 03:36 PM in The Amphitheater

We have some very interesting bands... are u guys actually putting people together that could actually make great music together? or just throwing together the best of at every position?

I'm definitely thinking strategically on what would work which is why I'm not just choosing random legends. In fact, I wont even be picking anyone that's dead(although Lennon was tempting).

#35110 All Time Band Game anybody interested?

I could put either one on lead guitar, vocals, keyboard, and Jack on drums depending on how the rest of the game plays out.

We're using a similar strategy. Everyone I pick but the drummer will be able to have multiple roles in the band.

#35121 All NEW "What are you Listening to?"

Slayer- South of Heaven

#35122 Alice n Chains

Saw them in May 91 before they exploded. Layne still had the dreads. Wasn't a long set(they were opening for Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth) but it was a killer performance. Grunge was gonna happen whether Cobain wrote Teen Spirit or not. MTV would have simply latched on to We Die Young, Man in the Box, or Soundgarden's Outshined. I was one of those "No Layne=no AIC" people, but the new album wasn't too shabby. Love the title track.

#35148 Albums which are supposed to be great but you just can't get into

Posted by Gomer Pyle on 10 September 2010 - 11:22 PM in The Amphitheater

I don't even listen to that record anymore but it was a shock for its time. Skid Row was just a typical hair metal band on their debut and hit the world over the head with Slave to the Grind. No one expected that. It had songs heavy enough for teens into Slayer to listen to and the slower songs were great. It's their only album that showed their true potential. To this day I still cant believe they followed that album up with the EP B-Sides Ourselves. It's like they wanted to fail.

#35173 "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Smells Like It's 19 Today

Posted by Gomer Pyle on 12 September 2010 - 02:36 PM in The Amphitheater

Hard to believe its been that long. World was so different then. Glad I got to experience that as the grunge movement was the most defining we'll ever see in our lifetimes. The internet makes replicating it almost impossible. Yeah D, the reason you just mentioned is why Cornell, Cobain, and a few others despised it the moment it went mainstream. They benefited obviously, but it became a spoof of itself the moment all the rich girls started buying flannel shirts at thrift stores. That whole "acting depressed" thing got old as well, and the show My So Called Life is a perfect snapshot of that.

With the rumor of a Soundgarden-Pearl Jam tour, here's a Temple of the Dog demo. When you get down to brass tacks though, it's a Cornell demo. He had that Temple of the Dog material ready for launch before the grunge supergroup was even assembled.

#35227 Mexican drug cartels spilling into Arizona

" Delgado felt pressured to sign a document agreeing to voluntary removal from the country and waiving his right to a lawyer." Don't sympathize at all. It'd be like confessing to a murder then having a hissy fit that they had the nerve to place you in a cell.

So the police should be allowed to pull people into rooms, interrogate them for hours IN THE FACE OF OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE THAT THEIR ACCUSATIONS ARE FALSE, and badger them into confessing?

You must be kidding.

He signed a paper saying he didn't belong here and waved his right to a lawyer. You can spin until the cows come home but that basic fact isn't going away.

I know how under certain conditions a person can be interrogated to the point of admitting they were the second gunman on the grassy knoll, but if you sign a paper saying you don't belong here, don't get mad when you're eating tacos on a bus going through downtown Tijuana.

Cops could bust through my door right now and keep me at the station until doomsday. I'm not signing ANYTHING, especially something that's gonna cause me to get sent a bit further south.

Forgot I had this in my 4shared folder. Video of their performance of Jesus Christ Pose when opening for GNR in 91. That 91 version of GNR bad ass but I feel sorry for anyone forced to follow this band. Axl's wait to show up onstage certainly warranted on this leg of the tour. Posted Image
