I've been going through my CDs and am gonna sell the ones I never really listen to and I noticed that there's a few which are considered to be 'classic' or at least very good albums. Among them were

Kill 'Em All (Metallica)
...And Justice For All (Metallica)
Blood Sugar Sex Magik (RHCP)
The Stooges' first album
Are You Experienced (Hendrix)
Rust In Peace (Megadeth)
Alive! (KISS)
South Of Heaven (Slayer)

I don't dislike them, and they all have a few songs I like, it's just that for me they've never met the hype they always seem to get.

Any albums you've not thought that much of but seem to get praised by everyone else??

Almost anything by Fleetwood Mac (snoozefest) and Velvet Underground (pretentious crap...how can being bad at playing instruments be a precursor to great music? IT CAN'T!)

It's just the echo of the blood in your head

Dark Side of the Moon Its very good, but I usually pass over it when I'm scanning for something to listen to. Just not a must listen to for me.

I loved it for about six months my senior year of HS, which to no surprise was accompanied by heavy pot use. After that....eh. It was trippy shit stoned though, gotta give it that.

Almost anything by Fleetwood Mac (snoozefest)

Some of the Peter Green-era live stuff is great - Boston Tea Party for example.

Even Rocks? I'd agree that everything they did post-cocaine is mediocre to awful.

I don't include Peter Green in my otherwise general dislike of FM. Unfortunately, when was the last time you heard a Green song played anywhere?

^ Here's a killer Rush song you'd probably dig, Sir:

Excuse the fan-made video, but it's the only studio version I could find.

Pretty much everything Led Zeppelin ever did. I dunno why but there's just something so trite about it all, i feel a little patronised and insulted everytime i give em a chance. i wouldn't go so far as to call The Stooges first album hyped though. I mean it's considered a pretty funky little album and a sign pointing the way to potential but it's very much considered a gateway album i think.
