OUCH!
You never ask a navy man if he'll have another drink, because it's nobody's goddamned business how much he's had already.

This song is an absolute must for a day at the beach:

"Whereas scientists, philosophers and political theorists are saddled with these drably discursive pursuits, students of literature occupy the more prized territory of feeling and experience." - Terry Eagleton

The death of a comet. Last week, on Feb. 23rd, the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) watched a comet plunge into the sun and disintegrate. The doomed snowball was a member of the Kreutz sungrazer family. Named after a 19th century German astronomer who studied them in detail, Kreutz sungrazers are fragments from the breakup of a giant comet some 2000 years ago. More than a thousand of these fragments have been catalogued by SOHO since the observatory was launched in 1995. Most are small and faint, but this one was a beauty.

Whales wait for birds to round up herring in a ball, and then steal the fish in one gulp.

Get out of my way! Humpbacks are smart and just a very cool animal (mammal). You can't go near them like you used to. They were being annoyed by large whale watching cruises and boats.
