First, are all citizens with foreign parents by definition "anchor babies"? That seems harsh and most of us could probably find such a thing in our family histories.
Also, if he is an "anchor baby", it wasn't very successful, since she's in Mexico.
And it's debatable whether the de facto language of the land is English, particularly in the part of the country where he came from.
There is a great distinction between the immigrants of the 1800s and early 1900s who legally came to this country, and those who now illegally enter often to provide services against the law. There is no debate about whether English is the official language of the United States. Even in Texas, the vast majority of people speak English as their primary language. Only 35% of Texas' population is Latino. http://en.wikipedia....as#Demographics Assuming no hispanic in Texas spoke English, (something obviously not true) that would still make the majority of the state English speakers and thus the defacto language. Furthermore, all official state business is done in English. http://en.wikipedia....guages_of_Texas
I'm a 3rd generation American; my great grandfather having migrated to America from Germany as a small child in the 1890s. Never do I, my father or late grandfather (who fought for America in WW2) consider myself a German, fly a German flag or speak any German. This same pattern holds true for countless Americans of Italian, English, French and any other European Descent, There is a stark difference between immigrants who came here then legally, desiring to make America their home, and illegals who cross our boarders to make money to finance their family in some Latin American country.
Making this distinction and possessing animosity towards it is not racist or xenophobic. It's about desiring to keep America as the greatest nation in the world and only desiring immigrants who are interested in the same goal. Sure we have Oktoberfest and Italian Festivals in America. But unlike these Cinco De Mayo celbrations, your typical American is expected to come to the Italian Festival for some good food or Oktoberfest for some good beer and brats. They truly are a celbration of diversity because they're designed to attract everyone regardless of gender or race. The same is not true with regard to the Cinco De Mayo celbrations and the general sentiment of anti Americanism that is incorporated with them.
