They were just appealing to their conservative base, to waste all their time on passing that partial birth abortion ban. No one---not states, not the house or senate---seems to give a damn about creating jobs. Makes me so angry that the Republican would rather address abortion and homosexuality over and over again. Enough already! There are more important issues at stake!
Do you oppose an 8/9 month old fetus/baby having its brains sucked out as it crowns if there is no medical risk to the mother?

That's not the point. Partial birth abortions are already illegal on a federal level, so for state Republicans to go through a lot of time and debate to pass a law to ban them on a state level is absolutely ridiculous and redundant. Totally just playing to their conservative base.

I don't follow the issue enough to know. But I always associated partial birth with a viable fetus who is killed moments before it exits the mother. I support abortion, for the reasons SLC's video shows. But when the only difference between protected status and being stem cells is 30 seconds, I'd like to think anyone who has an ounce of respect for human life would want to take a further look at that.
Partial birth abortion is currently banned according to federal law.
Late-term abortions are only perfomed under very specific circumstances, they must be approved by a second specialist, and most importantly are not performed on demand. Remember the term late-term abortion includes second and third trimester abortions. At present there are only 3 physicians in the US who perform third trimester abortions, and they have very specific criteria to follow.
Dr. George Tiller was the most experienced of the specialists, and had the expertise to handle the most complex of cases.
The procedure you mention is very seldom used, if at all.

Does anyone else remember when a Republican politician (can't remember exactly who) claimed that our immigration problem is caused by abortion?
Yup, it was Charles Colson on his radio show who claimed that abortions caused a shortage of workers in the U.S.A. and that shortage caused illegal immigration. He was spouting that stuff back in 2006 but if I'm not mistaken, Michelle Bachmann brought it up a few months ago as well.

Ironically enough, the first reduces the second.
