Has anyone else been checking out Twitter's Periscope? It is really cool. You can see people live streaming just about anything from anywhere on earth. I have heard Big Ben tolling at 4 a.m. UK time, watched several concerts from great seats, and even stumbled across people doing what can be described as their own porn movie.

The dumb have found it too:

What the fuck are you two doing on Twitter?  Isn't that just a medium for people to post selfies and pictures of their meals?  I don't think 140 characters allows for much intelligent expression.

The Trouble With Twitter. Trolls, Verifications removed & Stock failing

https://archive.is/pUZVJ

Twitter is flailing about and are throwing everything into itself to try and attract new users and raise the stock price but are only succeeding in pissing off people who like it as is. I predict a mass exodus of users soon to another platform that will go back to the Twitter basics that they are abandoning.

Twitter targets trolls but winds up silencing conservatives

Gamergate mention!

I have started to look into GNU SOCIAL which is an open source twitter replacement that is to Twitter what Bit Torrent was to Napster. Anyone can start a GNU Social server and admin as they like. Each server is part of the network and you can follow people on whatever server is out there. I have set up shop on sealion.club.

This is my new home once Twitter gets ridiculous.

^ Those follows were so weird. What did I do on ello to trigger that? The porn account was interesting but I check ello at work so that was a total no follow back.

Ello is a cool artist/creative facebook alternative without any ads or data mining. It is actually built in a nice way. Check it: https://ello.co/artcinco

Hmmm...interesting, how long has that been around?

Every time I read my wife's facebook feed it reminds me of why I deactivated my account. I probably have said this before, but I read Reddit a lot these days. Although am not registered (maybe a first for me and my big mouth.)

The concept of ello is cool. It strives to not do all the bad things Facebook does. It has been around a couple of years. It has an iPhone app, probably an Android one too. It does not have a huge userbase but it has some people on it. In my experience a bunch of creative types, Australian locksmiths and porn promoters.
