I have had a cell since summer 2000...just don't see the appeal of texting.

It's the fastest way to communicate with someone who isn't available right then by phone. It's very useful in NYC because everyone I know is on the subway so much.

It's just easier. And this is coming from a 41 year old. I'm pretty old school but texting makes sense.

I prefer to text, but if the convo gets too detailed then I just pick the damn phone up and call.

CUPERTINO, CA—As part of an effort to boost smartphone sales following lower-than-expected third-quarter earnings, Apple announced today a new national advertising campaign urging users to buy a second iPhone for their other hand. "Imagine having Safari, FaceTime, and Siri in both of your hands at the same time," Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a press release for the new campaign, which will debut Friday night during the Olympic opening ceremonies with the slogan "Need an extra hand with that?" "On the one hand—quite literally—you're texting a friend, and on the other, you're hitting up Siri for the nearest pizza joint. With that second phone, iPhone users will truly have the power of the Internet at their fingertips—all 10 of them. This is the wave of the future right here." At press time, Apple reported that iPhone sales for the day had passed the 600,000-order mark.

Ordered my iPhone 5 this morning at 3am - been suffering serious insomnia the last few months so finally was useful. They were on 2 week back order by 4am. Skipped iPhone 4/4S, and stuck with 3GS, so I totally deserve it :D

Thinking about the 5 too. It seems like Apple is already sold out for the time being. I have to research carriers and contracts.
Why do you read that kind of crap, Art? Seriously, I don't get it.

My phone costs $30 every 60 days. My wife, describing it to her coworkers, got the reaction..."Like what the terrorists use?" Damn right.

Mostly I don't care. But the cost is stupid, too.
