I'm safe in assuming you just take public transportation up there?

Here? God no. We have the worst public trans in this county. Our trains and busses are mostly hooked into the NJ lines and you would have to take the scenic route to even get anywhere.

Oh, I'm totally ignorant to your situation up there. I assumed "City" and figured you could just get on a bus and go about anywhere.

Power went again last night, and just came back on. I'm lucky here, in that, the freezing rain/rain line for the past 24 hours has been bouncing, back and forth, 10 miles on either side of me.

Counties all around(and even mine) were hit a lot worse that what I got here. They are saying it will be days before some people get their power back. Luckily, 5 years ago a massive ice storm hit the area, and it took the tops out of most of the trees. It ended up killing 35% of the trees in the area, so there wasn't as many limbs to fall. Back then, some people went without power for two weeks.

It has changed over to snow in the last few minutes, so I dodged a bullet with this one.

Hold on I have to pull out my metric chart to figure out how much snow you have. I still don't understand why we use a different system here than the rest of the damn world. We got a few inches of some sloppy stuff overnight.

2.5 centimetres is about an inch.

Plus you Yanks spell stuff like color as colour, or flavor as flavour ;)

I went out last night a little after 23:00, and chopped the ice from my car. This morning, there was no more ice, so I guess it rained all night here. Just got back from a little driving about a mile, or two, from here; there are trees down everywhere.

You're staying inside watching the Young and the Restless today I take it?
