Then his discussion about using the media to discuss a world currency...but I've seen numerous articles on, say, MSNBC, and most have been far from a "hey, this is a GREAT idea" approach.

Often through his diatribes I pause the video and google the article he references. More often that not they don't match what he is claiming. OR they do match what he was claiming (for instance, there was a meeting somewhere with people in attendance) but still do not provide credible evidence to support his thesis.

The thing thats so annoying about people like Jones, Rense, etc. is they spew this stuff year after year, and then when none of their "facts" come true, they start spewing the same thing with the next leader. Bush was supposed to rule the entire world and throw us all in a bunch of death camps, and since that didn't happen, now Obama is going to do it. Some of the points these guys make are valid, but of course they go off the deep end and buy into their own hype which makes it all null and void.
Surprise, surprise, surprise!

^^He is referring to Presidents of the Congress while the country was under the Articles of Confederation. There were no presidents before the current constitution was adopted in '81... I think. Freedom 78 would probably know.

There was no executive branch before the current Constitution. There was a national Congress that was both legislature and executive, but which had no power save at the whim of the states.

I am some what ashamed to admit that that was one part of American history that I could not get into(hence, the 1781 reference). I've read a few books on the period, and it just didn't do anything for me. For some reason, I found the period around the French-Indian War much more interesting, but it has been years since I read anything...

Haven't read any history for quite some time, now. Something about working in teaching that makes me want to avoid that sort of subject in my free time. Shame, really.

I finally started reading a condensed version of Gibbon's "The Decline And Fall Of The Roman Empire" last night, but it was slow going. We'll see how it goes tonight.
