Rush Limbaugh Argues Hurricane Forecasts Are Liberal Conspiracies, Is Also Evacuating Because of Hurricane Forecast

This Tuesday, right-wing radio dumbass Rush Limbaugh engaged in an extended hurricane-related rant that has largely been described in the press as an argument that liberal scientists and media figures overhype and manipulate hurricane forecasts in order to advance their global warming agenda. And yes, it was that, but it was also much more. It was also a comical display of masculine overconfidence:

Just as I am the go-to tech guy in my family and here on the staff, when it comes to a hurricane bearing down on south Florida, I’m the go-to guy. Everybody says, “What do you think is going to happen?” The reason for that is that I’m not biased and I have no agenda with my analysis of the data. ... I’ve lived here since 1997, and I have developed a system that I trust, my own analysis of the data. ... Let me just put it this way. The latest National Hurricane Center forecast map, the track, which was released at 11 a.m. puts the Sunday target exactly where I told my buddies on Saturday and Friday night that it was gonna go.

(His buddies know what's up!)

It was an unprovoked attack on the integrity of America's finest big-box home improvement chain:

So the media benefits with the panic with increased eyeballs, and the retailers benefit from the panic with increased sales ... I don’t want to mention brand names because that’s not the point. Let’s call it Basement Depot. Basement Depot huge, huge business, Basement Depot spends gazillions of dollars every year in local advertising in hurricane forced areas.

And it was a devastating indictment of "Big Water":

Do you realize here in south Florida, from where we are all the way down to Miami, you cannot buy bottled water. ... You know, if I were the Big Oil guys I’d be so jealous of the Big Water guys. The Big Water guys don’t have to drill for it. The Big Water guys do not have to spend any research and development money. They don’t have to go through the environmentalist wackos. They just plug into some lake or some tap and fill up some water, put a label on it, put it in grocery store and sell it for more than gasoline costs, in many cases.

Here's the part about forecasts being phony because liberals have infiltrated "government areas."

You have people in all of these government areas who believe man is causing climate change, and they’re hell-bent on proving it, they’re hell-bent on demonstrating it, they’re hell-bent on persuading people of it. So here comes a hurricane that’s 10 to 12 days out and here come the initial model runs, and if it’s close—sometimes it’s not close, sometimes the hurricane will turn to the north out in the mid-Atlantic and there’s no way you can fake that. But if, if they are going to approach a hit on the U.S., you will note that early tracks always have them impacting a major population center. ... Major population centers is where the major damage will take place and where we can demonstrate that these things are getting bigger and they’re getting more frequent and they’re getting worse. All because of climate change.

Anyway, old Rush announced Thursday that his proprietary data analysis threat matrix system has ... convinced him to evacuate the major population center (Palm Beach, Florida) where he records his show.

I'm not going to get into details because of the security nature of things, but it turns out that we will not be able to do the program here tomorrow. ... We'll be on the air next week, folks, from parts unknown. So we'll be back on Monday. It's just that tomorrow is going to be problematic. Tomorrow it would be, I think, legally impossible for us to originate the program out of here.

Legal stuff, you guys. And security... the security nature of things. Is Rush Limbaugh actually a government liberal?

What kind of weirdo wants to pee in a bed because someone else slept there.  I mean, I get pissing on a grave, but a bed?

#76048 Science vs Religion

Posted by Its Cousin on 22 August 2017 - 11:00 AM

When this next eclipse happens in 2024, everyone do them self a favor, and go see it. It is the closest thing to a religious experience I have had in 40 years. And it wasn't just me. There were people from all over the country(I saw more out of state license plates than Kentucky plates); people with no background in science, and even little understanding of what they were seeing, that were dumbstruck by the experience- myself included!

Images can't do it justice. Combined with the other senses that you experience, it was surreal. Almost everyone I talked to said is was the single greatest experience they ever had(some women were saying it was right behind childbirth). People were actually crying!

This was my 5th eclipse, and first to experience totality. The other ones were cool, but kind of ho-hum as you don't see anything in a partial except the sun being occluded.

This time... it's hard to explain... about 20 minutes, or so, before totality you notice that things start to look weird/funky and the temperature starts to drop and the sun's rays aren't as intense on the skin. at about 10 minutes before everything is really starting to have on this strange... grayish/metallic look to it... fucking crazy! As the temps. continue to drop, it really starts getting dark really fucking fast. Like you can actually seeing it getting dark as you're looking around... literally by the second.

Usually, when it gets dark, it takes, what, an hour or so? Here it happens in 10 minutes, or less. It's fucking quick. The temps drop 10-20 degrees in about 10 minutes. You're sweating your ass off in 90 degree temps, and then it's cool.

It gets about as dark as it is when there's a full moon, so you can still see everything/everyone, but it all has that eerily weird strange grayish metallic look to it.

Then, the diamond ring appears. Images can capture it, but it's not the same... I don't even know how to explain it... I guess with images there is no energy being emitted???

The corona is breath taking. You can see the sky, but there is a solid black disk with streamers shooting out all around it, and then about 2/3 the way through totality, we got to see the chomosphere. I thought that happened really quickly(or not at all), like the diamond ring, I guess not because I could make it out for about 30 or 40 seconds... you could even see it naked eye! black disk, orangish/red protrusions, surrounded by the corona which is about 4 or 5 times the size of the moon. Fucking unreal!

I watched most of it through binoculars, but I had to take in the naked eye experience, too.

Do not miss this next one if there is anyway in hell you can make it. You will be very glad, even if skeptical before hand, that you spent the money, time, and effort to see this remarkable phenomenon. Seriously, go fucking see it!

edit: at the last minute, we decided to change our destination to Pennyrile State Park which is a few miles outside of Hopkinsville(which was the center of the eclipse, and had longest duration). Damn glad I did. When we got there, we learned that they were having an eclipse gathering on the golf course.

About 5000-10000 people showed up, and NASA was there to launch weather balloons to study the eclipse. We got there 7:10 am and was the 40th car in line to get in(the park didn't open until 8:00). The parking lots filled up quick, so they parked on the roads surrounding the park and provided shuttle service to get everyone in.

Since we were so early, we got to park in the lot by the viewing area, so there was no wait, and only had to walk a very short distance. The NASA folks were giving away these really cool, and big, stickers and hat pins with their logo and with the Orion(new heavy lift rocket under development) logo to all the kids. I wanted to ask if big kids could have them, too, but didn't. Granddaughter got them, though.

Everyone was really nice, everybody was sharing everything... it was like a gathering of close friends. When leaving the parking area, people that had room in their vehicles were providing strangers with rides through the park so the wouldn't have to wait on the shuttles. It was really cool to see so many people, from so many different places, get along so nicely. Leaving was no problem/no wait, but when we hit the main roads leaving Hopkinsville, goddamn...

Went to Hopkinsville. 120 miles out, and still grid lock! Worth every minute of it. More later.

To obtain the search warrant, at least Mueller, one other FBI agent, a federal prosecutor, and a federal judge had to agree that evidence of a crime would be found at his residence. Including plea deals, federal courts have a 99.8% conviction rate. Manafort is fucked unless he can offer up something/someone.

Well, I think everyone, here, knows my thoughts vis a vis North Korea, but if they don't, I'll sum it up with this: back when Bush announced the action in Iraq, I was hoping it was a feint and the true target was on the peninsula with the goal of eliminating that regime.

As much as it sucks, something has to be done before they develop more dangerous capabilities. That regime has to go! The world will never be safe as long it survives. Every moment of delay, just furthers the danger to everyone. 8 or 10 years ago it could've probably been done with casualties minor to what they would be today, and today, minor relative to what they will be tomorrow.

It's going to be painful, but it has to be done. Eventually, we are going to have excise that cancer, and the sooner the better.

Do the salesman tactic: Ask a series of questions so they arrive at the answer themselves, or at least so they are left asking the same question. If people feel like they thought of something themselves, then they are more likely to change their POV. lol, report back.

I did that late last year and the sister agreed then that if the Russian allegations proved true, it was troubling. Of course now, it's all fake news, James Comey is a liar, and Hillary is still evil...

"deeply religious, and Trump supporters" - LOL, how do they even reconcile that? (Rhetorical question)

Even though rhetorical, i'll answer... It's mind boggling. Apparently, their minister/preacher/charlatan has convinced them Trump is a changed man. The amount of dissonance is truly astounding; it is something see. It's almost like I'm in a museum for pathologies in thought.

Been hammering away on Russia, though, and how if Reagan was still around the whole cabal in Washington would be in a federal prison... I'm detecting hints of conflict. lol

The loudest applause at the parade, today, was for the guy marching with a large IMPEACH TRUMP sign. You could hear the applause moving down the street as he marched.
