Turns out she has terminal lung cancer and this is almost certainly her last thanksgiving....from what I've read at least. She missed connecting flight and didn't make it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We are doing an non traditional TG. Going for a hike and then come down and eat steak for dinner. We had Turkey last Sunday.

A few months ago. I was vegetarian for about 18 months. Once I lost all my weight, and my blood pressure came down, I started eating lean meats again. I am having another blood panel when I get back from vacation next week. If my cholesterol is still high, I will cut it back out or at least way down. Mostly now though I eat chicken breast, turkey and very little read meat, so I'd be surprised if my cholesterol was still up there. Hope not anyway.

Thanksgiving in my family hasn't been the same since my grandma had a heart attack and stroke four years ago. Its always revolved around her, even before I was born. The whole clan descends on her house twice a year(Thanksgiving and Christmas).  She doesn't cook anymore but the routine remains the same.

I think this is a problem for families who stick to such a routine. It cant remain that way forever and once it changes it alters your outlook on the holiday dinners.

I'd sell my soul to the devil for her turkey, dressing, and a pan of yeast rolls.

Happy tday peeps. I already had two Thanksgivings already over the last 10 days with family and a friend. So today I'm just doing leftovers. The Missus is out of town, so I'm solo. I'm not gonna lie....it's awesome.

Hope it's a good one for you guys.

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

That out of the way, folks, don't use soup in your casseroles; it's cheap, easy, and lazy. Also, when making one of broccoli, remember to blanch first, and cut the plant longitudinally. There is nothing worse than seeing broccoli in a casserole that has been cut transverse to its long axis.

Hope I didn't piss anyone off, but if you made yours contrary to what I described, be assured, everyone is thinking the same thing. Alternatives to soup- mayonnaise and eggs. Alternative to cutting transverse- cut it fucking longitudinal. Alternative to raw- blanch that shit; no one likes crunchy broccoli.

Back at you!

Rob's in NYC for the holiday, this weekend, and I'm at her place taking care her dog and cats. She's had a bottle of Bulliet sitting in her liquor cabinet for the better part of a year. Unopened! Well, I fixed that... should be a fun night.

Freedom, if you haven't tried Bulliet, it's an exceptionally fine high-rye bourbon. I highly recommend it.

I've had it...been buying a fair amount of Evan Williams Single Barrel over the last year...incredible value.

Thanksgiving was good for us - I think it was my 31st, and 1st dry (stopped drinking in the summer.) We're both first gen immigrants so still just have it with friends and their families, no racist uncles to deal with etc. Seems to make a lot of people miserable...for example:
