It's time to unite behind the REAL anti-establishment candidate.

Supreme campaigned in the New Hampshire Republican primary in 2008. He received 41 votes (0.02%) in the New Hampshire primary. According to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), he also received 43 votes, nationally, in the general election.

Top conservatives gather to plot third-party run against Trump

Three influential leaders of the conservative movement have summoned other top conservatives for a closed-door meeting Thursday in Washington, D.C., to talk about how to stop Donald Trump and, should he become the Republican nominee, how to run a third-party “true conservative” challenger in the fall.

The organizers of the meeting include Bill Wichterman, who was President George W. Bush’s liaison to the conservative movement; Bob Fischer, a South Dakota businessman and longtime conservative convener; and Erick Erickson, the outspoken Trump opponent and conservative activist who founded RedState.com.

"Please join other conservative leaders to strategize how to defeat Donald Trump for the Republican nomination,” the three wrote in an invitation obtained by POLITICO that recently went out to conservative leaders, "and if he is the Republican nominee for president, to offer a true conservative candidate in the general election."

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, two days after winner-take-all Florida and Ohio vote in what many Republican operatives believe will determine whether Trump is on an unstoppable march to the nomination or is likely to stall out short of the 1,237 delegates he needs.

One person involved in the gathering described it as in the “embryonic” stages.“ It’s not like there’s a royal grand plan that’s going to be unfurled," this person said. "People aren’t giving up on the Republican Party yet."

Still, Wichterman, Fischer, and Erickson represent three boldface names to host such a gathering. All three have deep ties to the social conservative movement, which Ted Cruz has tried to unite behind his candidacy.

Wichterman, in addition to his top job for Bush, served as a senior adviser to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. He now works for Covington, a law firm in Washington, D.C.

Fischer, in 2012, helped bring together a group of more than 200 conservativesfrom across the country to unite around Rick Santorum’s candidacy. An event in Houston he put together raised $1.8 million in a day.

And Erickson, who has sparred publicly with Trump for months online and on his radio show, has previously said, “I will not be voting for Donald Trump at all. Ever.”

Other GOP donors, who are interested in exploring the possibility of challenging Trump, recently commissioned a study on the feasibility of launching a last-minute, independent bid.

Trump dominates the GOP delegate count with nearly half of the states already voting in the Republican presidential primary. According to POLITICO's calculations, he would need to amass slightly more than 50 percent of the remaining delegates to secure the nomination outright.

This just proves even more what a threat to the establishment Trump is......which means more votes.

IMO running an independent candidate at this point isn't going to hurt him. If anything, it'll do the exact opposite. He's almost unstoppable at this point. Maybe they should just step back and let the American people decide this time instead of force feeding us someone off their assembly line.

They've got Hillary there to save the day for them and keep the machine going if she wins. The problem is they know he can beat her....which is the opposite of what they claim.

If it could be Hillary vs Cruz or Rubio....they'd consider it peaches and cream either way. For the first time ever an actual outsider threatening to shake the system to its core has a legitimate shot at winning and it scares the shit out of both sides equally.

These politicians and so called experts still seem unable to grasp the rise of Trump and what's behind it. They don't understand that we are sick of them.....and finally want the change they have falsely claimed to want to usher in election after election after election...

He still has a chance at a brokered convention. Would you really rather have Trump, Clinton or Cruz sitting in the Oval Office?

^ All 15 or so other prospective candidates "have a chance" at the convention. They all got out when it became obvious they could not win the nomination.

Then Cruz should drop out too since it's incredibly unlikely he'll get 1237 delegates. That you'd compare Kasich to Huckabee or Santorum is disheartening.

If that's really how you feel, we should just start setting up debates between Trump and Clinton now. No one else has any real shot at getting their parties nomination.

It's just math. Cruz can still reach the magic number. I agree it is unlikely that he does.

I understand Kasich is staying in in order to try and prevent anyone from getting the magic number. He gives primary voters someone to vote for besides Trump who they fear and Cruz who they dislike.

The fact that they dislike Cruz is the problem. Otherwise they could unite the entire non-Trump vote behind Cruz. I think if Trump is a few delegates shy and the party does some contested convention stuff to shut him out it is a guaranteed loss. A large enough Trump voter block will either quit the party, vote Hillary or stay home.

Trump.

Absolutely. One debate a month...starting now. She'll drop out in April. He'd run unopposed in the general.

The Trump-Clinton debates are going to be incredible.  Other than a Trump victory on election day, the debates will be considered the highlight of 2016.

My prediction on the Trump-Clinton debates. and I'll quote this post when the first is about to happen.

I'll assume three will be scheduled. After the first night is a complete disaster for Hillary, her campaign will issue a press release saying she's sick in an effort to delay/reschedule the rest of the debates to buy time so they can figure out how to handle him....that's if she'll even show up for a second one.

I'm not exaggerating. I think he's going to completely destroy her in a debate.

I was reading earlier that even Limbaugh is supporting Trump. That's shocking. I haven't seen LImbaugh in years but he's always for the top establishment guy...I'd have figured Jeb. I think Limbaugh knows this is history in the making and he might as well get behind the winner early.

We are in the golden age of trolling. There are lots of people who after the last 8 years of a mediocre economy -- where no one was held responsible for the fiscal meltdown -- also see that laws don't seem to apply equally anymore. I think they see that the caterwauling about Trump coming from the establishment people in power or those who benefit from not fixing things and these voters are deciding that electing Trump president is a message that cannot be ignored.

What percentage of African-Americans would Trump have to siphon off to sink Hillary's electoral map?

Black Dems aren’t turning out for Hillary like they did for Obama

Newt Gingrich on ‘Anti-Trump’ Republicans: Should Form ‘Lost Republicans for Hillary’

Newt would be a good veep for Trump. ;-)

There are some theories out there that Kasich is staying in to PREVENT a two person race that would favor the non-Trump vote coalescing behind Cruz. The theory is that Kasich will be Trump's VP as you have to win Ohio to be president.
