The GOP and their mythical Reagan....
You can't blame them. From Teddy Roosevelt to Franklin Roosevelt, you were either a progressive or a failure, for the most part, and ideological conservatism was banished to the wilderness. When Republicans start doing well again, it wasn't because they were conservative. Eisenhower was barely a Republican...he could've picked Democrat and won just as easily. Goldwater was conservative, but couldn't win. Nixon largely eschewed ideological labels, which is no surprise in an era dominated by foreign policy and Ford was stuck dealing with Nixon's (bad) legacy. It wasn't until Reagan that conservatism becomes attractive again and, despite that much of his mythology is bullshit, he defines the conservative movement of the last three decades. There is no other conservative who combines prominence and widespread popularity as well as he did. Think about it...if a modern conservative can't point to Reagan as an example, who can he point to? Who was the last, conservative successful President, other than Reagan? It was pre-WWII, which is hardly relevant to politics today. Besides, they've already got their historical icon in Lincoln. Honestly, the next biggest conservative of modern politics might be Bob Dole...no surprise they look to Reagan, is it?

Turkey Shoots Down Russian Warplane Near Border With Syriaby Aziz Akyavas , F. Brinley Bruton , Alexey Eremenko and Ben Plesser
ISTANBUL — Turkish fighter jets shot down a Russian warplane near the Syrian border after it violated Turkish airspace on Tuesday, officials said.
The Russian aircraft was warned 10 times in five minutes before being shot down, according to the Turkish air force. It was the first time a NATO member's military has downed a Russian or Soviet military aircraft since the 1950s, according to Reuters.
NATO said it would hold an extraordinary meeting later Tuesday to discuss the incident at the request of Turkish officials.
Syrian fighters on the ground and Turkish sources told NBC News that the Russian jet's pilots ejected and landed in north of Latakia, Syria. That area is controlled by rebels fighting to topple President Bashar Assad. Russia has an air base in Latakia which is used to launch bombing raids targeting Assad's foes — including ISIS.
Footage from Turkish Haberturk TV showed a warplane going down in flames in a wooded area with a long plume of smoke trailing behind it. Russian and Syrian regime helicopters were later seen searching the area where the jet went down, a rebel commander who goes by the name Abu Faiz told NBC News.
The Kremlin's Defense Ministry confirmed that a Su-24 had been downed, but said it had been shot down by ground fire in Syria.
"During all the flight time, the aircraft was flying only within the borders of the Syrian territory," according to a statement on its website.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the incident "very serious" but added that Russian officials were still trying to find out exactly what had happened, state-run news agency RIA Novosti reported.
"It would be wrong to make any assessments and assumptions now, make any statements until we have the full picture," Peskov was quoted as saying. "So we just need patience."
The head of the Turkish military briefed President Tayyip Erdogan on the incident, while Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu ordered consultations with NATO, the United Nations and related countries, Reuters reported citing their respective offices.
According to Russia's Defense Ministry, there are 69 warplanes based in Latakia. Russian planes have run thousands of bombing raids in Syria since Sept. 30 when the Kremlin announced it would start targeting ISIS.
However, U.S. officials say many of the strikes appear to be hitting areas where ISIS doesn't have a presence.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his air force to step-up bombings after a passenger plane crashed in Egypt's Sinai on Oct. 31, killing all 224 on board. On Thursday, ISIS claimed it brought down the Metrojet plane with an improvised bomb.

This has bad written all over it. If Putin does "nothing", Russia appears weak. If Russia retaliates militarily against Turkey, I don't see the West doing anything, showing NATO to be a farce.
Could be a great test for Putin. He retaliates, NATO bitches. With the knowledge the west is content bitching on Facebook, Putin rolls into Ukraine and starts taking back lands lost after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Obama won't do anything besides pass more sanctions. And without the US, the rest of Europe will remain silent. I'm not advocating for action, but if ever there was a time to attack against a weak president, now's the time. Obama's "line in the sand" comment has removed any credible military threat while he is in office.
I've wanted NATO to be dissolved for years. It was only a matter of time before some incident occurred proving its a paper tiger that looks great on paper. A few years back there was an incident between Turkey and Israel that I thought was going to be the straw that broke NATO's back. Didn't happen of course but things are much different when you bring NATO's adversary into the mix.
I always thought NATO's war games were comical. No chance in hell all those countries agree on anything in a crisis. When Libya bombed night clubs in Europe and Reagan ordered airstrikes, they wouldn't even allow the US to use their airspace. Our bombers had to fly AROUND Europe.
Some alliance..

At the very least if we dissolved NATO then Europe would have to actually pay for their defense forces and lower the amount spent on their socialist utopias. ;-)
Thus lowering our defense burden and ushering in our own socialist utopia! See, I knew Louisiana had to be good for something other than a market for beads n tits.

So they have to offer courses to teach them right from wrong?
“there was a link but not a very clear link†between the rape cases and the city’s immigrant community.
Way to take a stand on an issue.
But many question whether there is a clear link between migrants and crime.
Only people questioning that are politicians.
