Yeah - she's probably an ex for a reason, right?

It's a looong story. She was actually my high school girlfriend, I went off to university in Toronto and she ended up moving to Toronto for college and we hooked up again but lost track of each other after she went broke and had to move back home (but I never really got over her). I moved back home after teachers college this summer and literally in my first 10 minutes out at the bars I bump into her and we pick up right where we left off. Things were going beautifully for a few weeks and then she says things are getting too serious and completely bails and stops answering my texts.

Literally just as I manage to put myself back together and have moved on with someone new she starts texting me out of the blue. I feel bad because I told her I'd always be there but I don't think I can live up to that as I'm seriously interested in this new girl. This new girl is also 5 years older than me and has a 2 year old kid which is refreshing as I've only ever been with girls my age or younger, and never with kids. It could be quite rewarding and a natural fit as well due to all the kindergarten supply work I've been doing lately.

I've got very tired eyes, but if I'm reading this right, I stick to my original opinion...go with the new girl. You already know about the ex...

Also, of course I'm speculating. It sounds like the ex found something else to interest her (hence her not returning your texts, which btw is rude as shit) and now is back, after that thing no longer is as appealing.

Kids are overrated.  There, I said it.

Screw the ex. She pulled a dick move by ignoring your texts which incidentally is what every single guy that I have ever had any sort of contact with has done. It's the rudest thing you can do & she did it to you.

How many times have I told you not to play with the dirty money??

AMM, here's some more unsolicited advice.  You'll probably always have a place in your heart for your HS girlfriend, but that doesn't mean you always have to be there for her.  Sounds like she's been in and out of your life at her own whim.  No one needs that, you know, to always be there whenever she feels like reconnecting with you.  You deserve better than that.  Give the new girl a try.  Freedom's right - only one girl got "awesome" from you - and twice!

What has happened to everybody? It seems like even the most benign things can cause idiots to become upset these days.

I'm going through my Facebook feed, and I read a post from Thich Nhat Hanh about mindfulness, the simple act of breathing, centering yourself. You know, the normal things Buddhist monks like to talk about. And in the comments are idiots saying "Easy for you to say! Tell that to an asthmatic!" haha, other morons talking about their various breathing issues they have and how he shouldn't be so insensitive.

Anything and everything makes us angry these days, and we're all so stupid. Just stupid.

The internet elevates everyone to the level of an expert and critic.  What it gives us in terms of mass information, it also takes away in terms of complete fucking idiocy, self-centered dialogue, and an effort by everyone to be special in some way.

Today I saw this picture of a woman with one of those enormous lip things in Africa. 1st though...gross. Second thought was that it would look awesome with an Elvis collection plate instead. Thank ya, thank you very much..
