There were a lot of "Oh My" Takei memes, but this one felt the gayest.

It was enjoyable, but I was disappointed. The CGI for Peter Cushing was awesome, but the cgi for the surprise cameo was so disappointing. Overall it was entertaining, but I didn't think it was anywhere near Empire and was bored until the last 20 minutes or so. But I acknowledge I'm the minority in thinking this way.

Yeah, I wasn't happy with "the surprise cameo" either. The outfit was enough for anyone who's followed the series, so no need for the face.
Anyone saying it's Empire level is overdoing it, but I certainly wasn't bored.

Kevin Smith compared it to empire and a bunch of people on facebook said it was one of the best star wars films, hence my heightened expectation going in. My only real grievance was I didn't understand what role Forrest Whitaker served. His character didn't advance the story at all. Seems like a waste of an A list actor. That and the background of Jin's father. I thought they could have made it much cooler if he was a Jedi in hiding after the fall and Vader showed up to exterminate him. Vader wiping out the remaining Jedi was always a story I wanted to see, and I think they missed an opportunity with that here, as again, her father was just a throw away character that didn't really advance the plot. But I liked all of the characters that were part of the attack squad.

I hear you on Forrest Whitaker. He coulda made it off that planet and been a great martyr type character at the end of the film...same basic idea, but longer story line.
But I did enjoy Vader, esp at the end. We haven't really seen him be a badass in any film, until the end of this one.

Right! How does he go from being a badass at the end of this to being a statue in Episode 4, especially when they take place hours apart.
Clearly his fight in Rogue One wore him out, and he took more of a command role as a result. Vader needed a nap.

"Darth Vader, light saber wielding dark lord of the fucking Sith, had a badass fight" is a spoiler?
A bit when I have low expectations of a trade dispute, Jar Jar Binks, or a cringe-worthy Vader voice-over as in Episode III

Time for a re-write on the next films...
RIP.
My son has a RotJ poster on his wall. He likes Jabba now; he'll enjoy slave Leia in a few years.
