I hope not either. I think his publicist said it wasn't.

Thinking about seeing Paranormal Activity 3 even though I wasn't crazy about the first one. I think I'm buying into the hype again.

#54024 Male Cheerleader Suspended For Kissing Another Male Student

Posted by MrsBrisby on 14 October 2011 - 06:55 PM in News, Current Events, Politics

Even if there is a rule against affection, a suspension is extreme. Maybe a warning or possibly detention would be more suitable. Suspending him and kicking him off the cheer squad is something else entirely. It seems like prejudice.

I'd love to go to a food festival. I'm eating a Halloween cupcake.

That's sweet. It's good he has cool parents who let him be himself and even celebrate it.

#53003 Guns N' Roses

I think the shows will improve. I'm not going to write them off over one bad night.

#52996 Guns N' Roses

Posted by MrsBrisby on 03 October 2011 - 12:46 PM in The Amphitheater

They played two and a half hours in the pouring rain. I think the harsh criticism is unwarranted. The first show back is usually a little rusty. He hasn't lost it.

#52993 Guns N' Roses

Posted by MrsBrisby on 03 October 2011 - 12:34 PM in The Amphitheater

I thought it was a good performance considering the heavy rain they had to deal with. Hearing Estranged was a nice surprise. It's their first show back. I imagine it takes a few for things to start going smoothly.

#52546 Bullying

Posted by MrsBrisby on 27 September 2011 - 11:06 PM in News, Current Events, Politics

I think bullying is a hate crime. My cousin, who is gay, was severely beaten by a bunch of guys after school. That was in the early '90s. Nothing was done about it - no arrests. He ended up dropping out of school. There's no telling how many good kids suffer silently because they don't want to be labeled cry babies.

#51577 Movies To See And Please No Spoilers.

Posted by MrsBrisby on 13 September 2011 - 01:47 PM in Silver Screen

Without spoiling the film for anyone, I can only mention the following:

Contagion was a bit unrealistic in some aspects. If the movie intended to show how the CDC assesses and manages threats, it was somewhat successful. However, the film also dealt with how the American public reacts during emergency situations. In that respect, the film was a failure. Conditions would deteriorate more quickly than portrayed and to a degree far more depraved. Have any of you ever seen the grocery store aisles a day before something as mild as a snow storm or category 2 hurricane? A pandemic threat would result in behavior like that on an unimaginable scale. Also, there would be widespread looting in cities and suburban neighborhoods, and troops would open fire on citizens. That is, before troops abandoned their posts. Let's put it this way - I was not frightened at all by this film.

Since I only paid $4.00 for a matinee viewing, I suppose it was worth it even the film candy coated the most important aspects of a pandemic. Jude Law's character was the most interesting.

Thanks for the review!

And you're right, people do go crazy during emergency situations or even the slight threat of one. Last year we had a snowstorm in the forecast and it was hard to find bread at any of the grocery stores.

What they're essentially doing is teaching their children intolerance.

#51399 All TV All Day

Oh, very cool that you like them too! I believe they bungeed from the Needle in Seattle. Do you watch any of the Challenges on Mtv? Yes, I admit, I watch them.

I watched just about every season. It would be nice to see some of those old episodes. Do they show them on MTV now?
