Thanks for the Winds of Winter chapter TAP.

I'm currently reading Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut.

People accuse me of paranoia, but we have what seems to be an extremely unlikely high percentage of cup matches against top sides, or at least Premier League sides, in the early part of the competition. Our league fixture list typically seems dodgy as well, although admittedly it's not too bad this year.

I wouldn't say it's always rigged, but if it had NEVER been rigged in my lifetime, I'd be shocked.

When the chants you invent come back to haunt you... ugh. Just need to grit our teeth and put up with it I guess.

Getting my brother this, in red, for his birthday:

Well, that was fucking depressing. I don't even know what channel the Europa League is on. Half of me doesn't even want to find out.

Finished The Long Walk on Monday. My interest started to wain a little towards the end, but it was good enough. Would definitely recommend it. Now reading Bret Hart's autobiography.

Ahh, bizarre. I still don't really *get* Twitter, but I enjoy it well enough.

To me John Arnold is like the archetypal dad. Gruff bloke who knows how to fix things and never shows his emotions. You'd grow up thinking he was a dick, but when you look back you'd realise he taught you absolutely everything you know and he was really kinda awesome.

Just picked up five Dutch followers in the last couple of hours on Twitter - legit ones, not spam - and I have absolutely no idea why.

Watched Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. the other night. It was good but not great.

I like the BBC TV show Sherlock more. It is a very good modern day retelling of the Sherlock Holmes stories.

Agree with this. The film was a decent waste of a couple of hours, but pretty mindless fluff. I can barely remember anything about it. TV show on the other hand is very good. Hope they hurry up with a proper series of it.

#55828 What kind of Christmas gift giver are you?

Posted by Abaddon on 29 November 2011 - 05:17 PM in Survey Central

I buy gifts for my parents, my brother and my wife - that's it. I'm pretty good, I think, but could be better. When I put my mind to it, I generally get pretty awesome presents. But half the time, I can't be arsed to put my mind to it and end up improvising on Christmas Eve.

Benjamin Sisko, Deep Space 9 was a pretty good dad. Also a fan of John Arnold in The Wonder Years.

What's the proper way to cook it?

I meant cooked well, rather than there being one specific way.

This is the method I've had the most success with:

But there are plenty of other ways.

If I could force people to try one thing once in their lives it'd be a good quality turkey, properly cooked. The mass-produced stuff is horrific and people cook it to death, and I reckon most turkey hate is down to these experiences. Turkey can be a beautiful thing if you splash out on the right bird and show it enough love.

Animal Kingdom - this was really good. Worth a watch it you like gritty drama/crime movies Tron Legacy - this was alright. No plot at all, but pretty to look at. Fine for two hours of brainless time-wasting.

Didn't see much of the weekend's football. United-Swansea was incredibly dull though. We really need to pick up some momentum again. We looked so youthful and vibrant at the start of the season, but have looked really tired for the last two months. City's heading into their first run of tough games and I think they'll drop points, so we need to be winning week in week out. But the way we're playing at the moment, I can't imagine us not dropping points as well. Still shakey at the back and sorely lacking in energy up front. Arsenal will be fine as long as Van Persie doesn't get injured. He's been the best striker in the league for a few years now, but has struggled to put a long enough run of games together to really establish himself. His form at the end of last season was superb and he's on fire at the moment. Wish we had him!

Hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving meals. All the turkey talk just makes me think of Christmas and the plans I need to make. Still not 100% sure how I'm going to cook the bird this year.
