Depending on the source, there have been at least 100 DNA exonerations and perhaps as many as 300 (this is from a quick search...I don't know which number may be correct, nor do I think it matters). So, unless there is something wholly different about capital crimes now than there was before DNA science, you have to admit that it is statistically improbable that there were no mistaken guilty verdicts that have led to death sentences. DNA has made the process much better, but that implies that it had problems to begin with. Can I prove a wrongful execution? Nope. I don't follow these things enough to know such a thing happened. But if you're going to take the position that the lack of proof that something happened means that it never did, even when it takes a logical leap of Grand Canyon proportions to assume that the only wrongful convictions have occurred in the DNA era and all such convictions have or will be overturned by the uncovering of DNA evidence...come on, you HAVE to know that that position is impossibly wrong. I'm not saying that the system always messes up or that it even does so regularly; I AM saying that the fact that so many have been overturned AFTER the fact is certainly compelling to the likelihood that some were NOT overturned and wrongful executions took place.

And at nearly every execution, stands a bunch of people crying for mercy, forgiveness or claiming that they were innocent all along and another wonderful human being is going to be lost. Interestingly, some idiot from Texas who drug a black man to death was executed last night as well. Yet the media wasn't covering cries from the educated masses demanding he be set free or spaired.
